How often do you need commands you cant remember? The ones i use are typically memorized via regular use, or i just look it up for the one off ones. You can use some distros without ever touching the terminal too if thats what you prefer.

I wish i had more to be doing stuff like that with i actually did one time when they gave us all that covid money, and i managed to turn that 1200 into like 10k via some investing its what got me thru the pandemic had to spend it all on food and rent tho. That was easy times to predict stuff since the pandemic kinda dominated everything. I just rode the bitcoin wave up from like 7k to 55k. If i hadnt gotten lucky with that id have probably ended up homeless during covid.

Im guessing this is at the very least a long term (months rather than weeks) move and thats why you arent just putting the dog in a doggy hotel or with family. If thats the case while i dont have experience crossing oceans with animals i do know even to cross state lines you need lots of paperwork for your animal so make sure thats in order. As for getting there if you havent bought your plane tickets yet it might be worth looking at chartering a small private plane for the flight. If you take into account all the costs it may not be that much more expensive and youd be able to bring the dog with you on the plane probably. Good luck figuring it out.

I see it more as shrinking. I think the civilization will shrink both population wise and geographically. There will be large areas that arent inhabited and most people will gather in large cities in the more temperate areas. I think itll be a good thing long term for the planet and for us since nature should recover once it happens, but itll be painful for sure.
