Fear of losing my teeth. Spent about 5 years with dental braces, teeth pulled (permanent and baby to make room), and oral surgery to have a tooth exposed to pull down slowly in place over time. I have some fucked up dreams, but nothing disturbs me more than one where my teeth are breaking, cracking, loose, or falling out. Maybe it is a bit of dental PTSD.
In my mid-40s and never have gotten a cavity.
I like reading reviews and comparisons from https://www.sleeplikethedead.com/. Lots of good info on that site. Used it to help me buy my last 2 mattresses. Very happy with my choices.
Welcome! This is a great instance, but don't forget to check out communities on all instances. I start by viewing by all, and then when you find a community you like, subscribe to it. Sometimes there are duplicate communities on different servers. You can subscribe to all/both and the widdle down the ones that are most active or the ones you prefer to participate in. Once you got a good set of communities that you are subscribed to it is easier to avoid the things you don't want to see.
Generally people are very friendly if you have questions. You can attempt to look for an answer to your question that may already have been posted in various communities or posts, but at the moment it is a bit difficult to search for individual questions amongst the entire federation and various instances.
Try out one of the apps. I am an android user and prefer Sync, Connect, and Voyager. iOS has Memmy and a few others I am not familiar with. I find it easier to maneuver around Lemmy with an app but the default browser UI works just as well.
Enjoy!
Trying to become a more "active" listener. My brain tends to want to immediately come up with a response without fully waiting to hear the whole conversation. Hence often, I speak before I think and/or before the person I was listening to was finished talking. I am trying to quiet my brain until the speaker finishes their commentary before I pause and work on a thoughtful reply as opposed to blurting out the first thing that comes to my mind.
As I have gotten older, the frequency of episodes have decreased. In my early 40's now. I would say it occurs at least once every 3-4 months as opposed to weekly in my teens.
Create one? :) If you build it, they will come.
Yeah looks like lemmy.world is slow today. Not surprised due to the influx of users. Ruud and the team has been working on it diligently the last couple of weeks, expanding hardware, writing code, fixing bugs, etc. Please be patient as we grow!
Bathroom's that way.
