So not only is this significantly expanding government's power to arbitrarily fuck with people's immigration paperwork but this is a significant expansion of police powers in general:

The Coast Guard is being turned from an emergency search and rescue service to an agency that also carries out surveillance for the police and military
People convicted of sex crimes will have their personal information shared with foreign governments
Police can more easily search your mail
"Electronic service providers" will be banned from deleting certain user data just in case the police will want it

Fun fact: Animal embryos can be disassociated by depriving them of calcium (E-cadherin, the molecule that holds the cells together, needs to calcium to work) and then can be allowed to reassociate by adding back calcium. If you do this in early enough stages then the embryo will function and develop normally once reaggregated, despite all the cells being jumbled up

There's a bunch of species of cactus (family Cactaceae) but only Rhipsalis baccifera is found in the old world. Even weirder is that it's not just found in the Americas and sub-Saharan Africa but also Sri Lanka for some reason.

In cases of cellular stress p53 is activated via phosphorylation. It will then direct the cell to pause its division and to either undergo DNA repair or kill itself. p53 is one of the body's most important defences against cancer. Mutations causing p53 dysfunction are found in more than half of cancer cases.
