Icecast is awesome and I wish more people knew about it. I much prefer it to things like Spotify.
And yeah, VLC can do anything. It could probably make me an iced coffee if I looked through the settings. Something cool I also discovered is that it can do iptv, which lets you stream TV shows.

Yep. Its such a great series with such a cool, fleshed out world, its hard to find another scifi series that hits the same way.
SNES does have a lot of the better games in lots of great series. Mario, Zelda, Metroid, Castlevania, Final Fantasy etc etc etc.
Though the cheat answer is probably PC since its been around for decades can just evolve with whatever is going on.
I'm like that with OG Doom. Its half nostalgia and half it just being a fun game to play.
Robin Hobb's Farseer books fit, though Fitz is different ages throughout the story. Excellent series!
Seconding Morrowind with OpenMW. It does an amazing job updating everything for modern computers.
I'm currently using Pop!_OS, which is a great desktop distro.
I was using MX Linux a lot which is amazing for both times when you need a portable distro with lots of features and when you need something that will still run well on older machines.
