Only two weeks? I want my money back for that love potion.

Uh... off the top of my head calculations, 40C is equivalent to 104F? I think my summer days get to just below that, on average. Hottest recorded ever was 109F, but that was at an airport, so lots of concrete and very high amounts of heat producing engines may have ticked that up a degree or two.

I think my rowing activities average about 30C when we start, and the courtside fun a hair or two higher. We try to stop by the time it gets close to 39C. Even with a breeze you can't really sustain activity by then. That's when we go to get lunch and then, yep, sleep.

There's a difference between refreshing and better tasting though. Hell, all the beer companies in america know that, which is why you get things like the coors campaign of the mountains changing color if the beer can is cold enough, because cold suppresses your ability to taste. They know they taste like shit but because they're so cold they are 'refreshing.'

Winters in LA or LA

You... I like you.

Also, you're sliiiightly overstating how little you can do in the summer hot times. It's not a "risking your life" scenario every time... Recreation just switches to an early morning or post-sundown schedule. I usually still get 3-4 hours of sports activities on a saturday or sunday. Plus you get fun things like all the animals that are crepuscular being out and about, so you'll have ospreys flying over your heads with a fish, or squirrels doing races around the fencetops.

I've lived in the south. I'll take the 100+F days with high humidity. You know why? Because the heat doesn't hurt. It will make you uncomfortable as fuck because of sweat and lethargy, you might get a sunburn, which hurts later, and it can kill you over time, but it doesn't hurt. Cold fucking hurts like a bitch. In the summer, I can finish mucking the horse stalls and herding the cows, then head inside and take a shower. Instantly all the uncomfortable heat and its byproduct of sweat/grime is gone. The AC and a little air movement make the heat dissipate in moments. In the winter, I have to head inside and sit by the fireplace or in the shower/bath until the warmth actually makes it down to my bones, because they are aching from the cold, and that can take bloody hours.

Spring is obviously still the best season, but summer is far from the worst.

Well, either the thing should be done well, shouldn't be done, or, if put in the game and it isn't a good part of the game, it should be criticized.

They decided to put it in the game, full stop.

It was a terrible portion of the game, and I'm criticizing it. As the other fellow said, the developers put it in to craft a certain feeling, and it absolutely sucked at creating that feeling AND dragged my enjoyment of the game down.

I can see trump believing something so stupid as that, and putin might saber rattle about it, but the majority of the world, and china/india especially in this situation, probably would not go along with it. Europe still has functioning nuclear capabilities. Putin does not want nukes hitting his country, full stop. China does not want a nuclear situation kicking off with their neighbor to the north, and knows that the US under trump would likely turn on them despite a war ruining both countries. India no more wants china controlling the waters to their east than the countries immediately around those waters do, and would likely cause issues, which china also doesn't want. As we've seen in the modern times with ukraine and some of the middle east conflicts and the india/pakistan border, nuclear powers tiptoe around anything that resembles direct conflict. The recent dogfight over the border was a pretty good idea of how reserved even 'open' conflict is.

So putin is likely not going to do anything more than a symbolic grunt at his western border, and china will just slowly weather down taiwan if the u.s. is withdrawing its influence. The idea of reunification isn't THAT taboo in taiwan, and the candidates for it gather a decent chunk of votes. If the u.s. starts acting like a bitch around the world (oh, gee, just look at what's happening right now), the sentiment towards it and china could easily see a rapid shift.

It's interesting to hear how people's experiences differ so much. I couldn't get endeavor to work on my laptop (absolutely nothing would launch after the install), but manjaro was the definition of 'it just works' for me. I'd love to stop having things break because manjaro holds back updates for a week.

I looked up the ones in my state, and I'm just gobsmacked at how fucking ugly the districts are. I know gerrymandering is bad, but when I actually have to see it... /puke

I once thought the females of the species had one opening for both. Growing up on a farm means you have some wicked advanced knowledge compared to other kids your age, but can introduce some really hilarious beliefs...

I never thought about why I thought women were more like our chickens than our horses/cows, but eh, some things just pan out.

...that seems like it must have been faked. Even if the nerves had been burned off, that's serious damage. Nerves are in the dermis, and if that gets burned seriously enough to make all the nerve endings dead, you're going to have a bad time. Just because the pain isn't being felt also doesn't prevent further damage.
