the compass app there is awesome! just bought it
actually, you can do vulkan passthrough if the guest machine is also linux
I don't think you understand - I can live poor and destitute without a job in my hometown, or leave to find work somewhere else. This is the reality of many Americans in rural America.
This isn't a quest for "wealth", it's a quest for life
oh god this is a flash to the last, I think I had that back in 2014,2015? It sucked
ah the ol lemmy rabbit-a-roo (we don't have this here yet..)
there is a ddcci dkms driver that exposes displays as Linux backlight devices. That integrates them into all DEs!
no, this isn't fully correct. The first time you boot your phone, you have to unlock with your PIN. This decrypts your user "partition" that holds all your data. Imagine all the crap you produce including apps goes in that partition. The base operating system, what you get from the factory, is in a separate partition that is NOT encrypted by you. So what this repair mode does is basically take advantage of the already built-in DSU functionally for booting generic kernel images (GKI) and instead use it to boot a copy of your system. Your personal data remains fully encrypted.
We're gonna have to agree to disagree then. I don't play games and currently use a Pixel 6 Pro. I occasionally feel this phone bog down and I am not a particularly heavy user. If I'm loading an intense website while streaming music and then I go to check my email I can see a few frames dropped from its 120Hz refresh rate. If I experience this with a flagship a couple of years old, I can't image the Fairphone would fare any better
at least you can disable it
When I visited Japan earlier this year, I was surprised with how common Google Pixels seemed to be. Interesting that data backs up my subjective experience!
I downloaded trail sense to compare, but they just are apples to oranges. trail sense looks like an awesome app and I'm happy to add it to my collection of useful tools!
This compass app (and level, too) is simply the most polished and perfected version of a phone compass or level that exists. The haptics feedback, to every small animation and detail, to the minimal but feature-packed design.
It is SO thoughtful and laser focused on just being a really really good compass and level.
This should be a native Android app. I bought it on a whim to try it but holy crap it is just so perfect especially if you notice and care about minor details
