So I haven't read anything by Steve Yegge before, but looking into it now I see he's the head of a company that sells tooling that leverages the very models/agents that he's saying will turn the industry on its head. Not saying he's wrong, just seems like everyone that says AI will do X is person who will profit very much if everyone believes that AI will do X.

I'll admit that I have a fondness for personality tests. I find them interesting, but I have no delusions about their ability to contribute to any meaningful analysis of one's life. That said, I don't think it's helpful to compare a system that is based on when you are born, to one that is based on answers to a variety of questions about how you would respond to different scenarios. The ways these tests are used by employers is exploitative, but that doesn't mean that there aren't interesting things to glean from categorizing trends in how people respond to these questions.

Astrology is uninteresting because it lacks even this barest of links to what you might be experiencing as an individual, but personality tests at least try to group you with like-minded groups. There are so many valid criticisms of personality tests, but at least they try, whereas astrology is lazy in so many ways.

anyways if you can't tell I'm an INTP and therefore always trying to understand things at a deeper level and probably better than you and or bad at communicating or something.

Not accusing you of being racist, but I have seen this same rhetoric used by libs and chuds about Chinese people in a way that certainly feels racist. Personally I’d just avoid this type of criticism that could easily be misconstrued as a cultural critique rather than a national one. There are plenty of things to call out Israel for that don’t run this risk.

Star Citizen shit makes me so mad. If a tiny fraction of what they’ve promised actually existed as a functional cohesive game it would probably be sick. When I first heard about SC I was obsessed with it, how could you not be? I know this is the oldest grift in vidya games, but at least Peter molyneux delivered a fun game, if it was a shadow of what was promised.

I think that “it’s supposed to be shit” can be good when it comes from an artist that has the ability to do it well. No idea if this is the case for Raygun, but it’d be interesting to me if she had proven her chops elsewhere then decided to put on a horrible act.

Do they realize that they're literally a parody of themselves?

Yeah as much as Skyrim is a weak point in the Elder Scrolls saga, I still look back on it fondly. Starfield will not have this legacy.

Yeah it’s not an inherently fascist take to want a game that simulates running a country to allow a fascist play through to be viable. The people that complain about the fascist power level and real fascists are mostly the same, but not by definition.

I've been fortunate enough to have seen my material conditions improve as I've entered my mid-thirties which has let me start a family and buy a home. I've also watched my incredibly talented and hard working friends/acquaintances/neighbours be ground into dust under the cruel rule of capitalism. I got lucky, they didn't, this has radicalized me far more than any naive idealism ever could.

Criticizing Hexbear with an ableist comment is chefs-kiss

Criticizing this article isn’t the same as supporting Russia lol.
