I woke up this morning and saw that the down payments for Operation Moarteen are rolling in. It feels so good that it has now entered the real phase where we don't just discuss plans, but things are finally happening 😊

Let me whisper of a dream of Moarch Madness with Moar Boar and Moarteen.

The Bismarck is a great razor. It tries to look fancier than it is (cheap gold wash and plastic scales) which is not something that inspired a sense of quality in me, so I was sceptical when I picked it up at a great price on a local eBay competitor. It has since thoroughly convinced me. The geometry is spot on, the steel takes a nice edge and holds it well, and the big full hollow round point geometry is very comfy.

It's one of those razors that invites you to change BBS everywhere and doesn't punish your for it.

Have you ever posted a photo of that Le Transatlantic? I don't recall whether I ever saw it

There's a saying that it takes 100 open blade shaves to become proficient at it, so don't expect the awkwardness to go away immediately.

May I ask what kind of shavette you got? Of it's one that takes DE blades (full or half), those are asking the more difficult open blade razors to learn to handle.

Oh this sounds good

  • Razor: Böker Abalone
  • Lather: Mäurer & Wirtz – Tabac Original

Wonderful shave this morning. After 60 days of using a SOC boar brush, this gigantic, luxurious, and warm badger fan was a more than welcome change. It's on the floppy side and I will probably pull it out and drill a deeper hole in this handle at some point, but if I account for it, I still get wonderful lathers with it.

The beautiful Böker with the dangerous point was wonderfully smooth, and I'm always impressed by the ergonomics of Böker shanks with their best-in-class jimping. This Abalone, my vintage S.S. Paris Wins, and u/Visceralwatch's King Cutter (which I need to send off ASAP) all have this, and I really appreciate it.

I wish you all a great day, and happy TabOKtoberfest to those who celebrate!

Day 20/31 of Looking for Serenity in Austerity

  • Brush: Semogue Owner's Club (cherry wood and boar) (20)
  • Razor: Zwilling J. A. Henckels Friodur 50 (7/8", hollow ground, stainless steel, masonic deco) (3)
  • Lather: Spearhead Shaving Company – Seaforth! Roman Spice
  • Post Shave: Spearhead Shaving Company – Seaforth! Roman Spice
  • Fragrance: Spearhead Shaving Company – Seaforth! Roman Spice

The edge has hit its stride and – at peak smoothness now – is a joy to use. I like hollow grounds for their gentle touch, and I like heavy blades for their smoothness ATG. When a comparatively light blade like this one gives you a smooth fool's pass, you know the edge is on point.

I saw and photographed split tips in the brush a few days ago, but I can't find them anymore, and the brush seems in no hurry to start a mass splitting event. I'm starting to feel impatient.

MMMMFF

  • Brush: Zenith 506 N XS (extra soft horse)
  • Razor: GEM Micromatic Flying Wing (NOS, chrome plated)
  • Blade: Personna GEM PTFE
  • Lather: House of Mammoth – Almond Leather
  • Post Shave: Declaration Grooming – Fake Yellow Light
  • Fragrance: Chatillon Lux – Gratiot League Square

Haven't done a MicroMatic Mammoth Monday Formation Flight in ages, and since I haven't coordinated with anyone, I'm not sure the "Formation" part will work out today. But when I saw @gcgallant@sub.wetshaving.social and u/Marquis90 flying in formation last Monday I got nostalgic, so here we are.

This frag combination is a favourite of mine, these three takes on leather just play so well together.

  • Brush: Zenith 506 N XS (extra soft horse)
  • Razor: Zwilling J. A. Henckels 14 (8/8", extra hollow ground, carbon steel)
  • Lather: Turtleship – Te Java
  • Post Shave: Noble Otter – 茉莉綠茶
  • Fragrance: Giorgio Armani – Thé Yulong

Yesterday's tea shave had me wishing for more, so I reached for my tub of Te Java, a delicious milk tea scent in a super creamy base.

It's unfortunate that Turtleship doesn't make splashes or frags, this is definitely a scent I'd love to have in more options.

Lol, calling subject matter expert @PorkButtsNTaters666@sub.wetshaving.social to get nerdsniped on the different etymologies of post as in postal service and post as in postpone.

Information Overload

  • Brush: Zenith 506B MB (27 mm × 51 mm Manchurian badger)
  • Razor: Schick Repeating Razor Type C
  • Blade: Schick Injector Blade
  • Lather: Highland Springs Soap Co. – Eclipse
  • Post Shave: Highland Springs Soap Co. – Eclipse
  • Fragrance: Chatillon Lux – Gratiot League Square

My fellow djudge u/RedMosquitoMM's and my mind have synchronised. My shave happened 12 hours ago, or 7 hours before skeeter's, I just haven't had the chance to post yet.

Eclipse is warm and rich and comforting, and more importantly for today's theme, it has 21 scent notes.

Relevant post and frag: Gratiot League Square is Eclipse's lost sibling sharing the tobacco-leather-sandalwood core.

Challenge: I got distracted. Started with my left, forgot about it by pass number two. Sigh.
