Threadbare Merkin would be an excellent band name!

I've got both Plex and Jellyfin running at the moment. Plex is nice for sharing with family since it's more plug&play for sharing outside your LAN, and it is certainly a little more polished in some areas.

But I've been very impressed with Jellyfin as well, and would wholeheartedly recommend giving it a whirl. If FOSS appeals to you at all, it's a solid choice.

In most cases, you really should have no issue running them simultaneously if you're not ready to commit to a switch.

Honestly, the only people using these will be the rich wannabe-redneck republicans who like to post their gun collections on instagram. It's an opportunity to virtue signal your gun fetish and nothing else.

Vending machines are great for when you need a small amount of something on the spur of the moment--but kinda worthless for something like bullets (presumably, if you're planning ahead to have a gun on you, you would also have thought to stuff a few rounds in your pocket at least) When they start selling actual guns, then I'll be worried.

Clearly "Yinz" is the ideal second person plural term. The rest of the english-speaking world just hasn't caught up to Pittsburgh yet.

On top of that, I swear the UI changes 1-2 times per year with software updates. It's hard to pinpoint since I'm usually 90% asleep when interacting with the alarm, but I know it has changed from tap to swipe and switched sides at least once since I got my last phone in 2022.

There is absolutely no reason for that shit. If you look at an old school alarm clock, the snooze button is the size of a small country, and there is usually a much smaller button or sliding switch to make damn sure you meant to turn the alarm off.

Edited to add: I know it's kind of pithy to respond with just a link, but that's really all there is to it. Like "a gentleman and a scholar" or "full of win", it's just a phrase that someone typed out of hyperbole, and people latched onto it, turning it into a meme.

Hey, it's one of those low-effort hot takes I was talking about!

Gotcha, so it's just an emotional appeal based on word choice, rather than attacking the real issues problems with the rental market...

Fair point, now try weighting it by "per capita climate impact" or some other factor as vague as "enough money to make choices to reduce climate change".

I'm 100% here for the dad joke / metal meme crossovers!

Never knew that about "rule of thumb". Personally, I think some expressions like that are so far removed from their original meaning that they really are innocuous for all practical purposes, but I see your point.

(Hard agree on "gyped" though LOL)
