Against the terms of agreements they made? Yes.

To be fair, this is what I meant when I said wrong. Enough people have taken umbrage with my wording that I think I should update it, though. Thank you for your reply.

My understanding is that the IA had implemented a digital library, where they had (whether paid or not) some number of licenses for a selection of books. This implementation had DRM of some variety that meant you could only read the book while it was checked out. In theory, this means if the IA has 10 licenses of a book, only 10 people have a usable copy they borrowed from the IA at a time.

And then the IA disabled the DRM system, somehow, and started limitlessly lending the books they had copies of to anyone that asked.

I definitely don't like the obnoxious copyright system in the USA, but what the IA did seems obviously ~~wrong~~ against the agreement they entered into. Like if your local library got a copy of Book X and then when someone wanted to borrow it they just copied it right there and let you keep the copy.

ETA: updated my wording. I don't believe what the IA did was morally wrong, per se, but rather against the agreement I presume they entered into with the owners of the books they lent.

I feel like in that case one would be loudly fighting to get the law changed, rather than insisting it's actually fine. Maybe that's just semantics.

I do not understand what point you're making. Can you elaborate?

It's in early stages, and only supports Stardew Valley right now. There's a Trello board for their roadmap with broad outlines.

I don't play Stardew or else I would participate myself. Hope this is of interest to some of y'all!

Don't forget that from Daniel's testimony, we learned Trump coerced her under threat of blackballing her in the television industry.

Daniels testified that she thought they would be going to a restaurant, and eventually used the bathroom in Trump's hotel room, but upon re-emerging was surprised to find Trump stripped to his underwear sitting on the bed. Daniels testified she said "I think we should go" and moved toward the door but Trump allegedly stood in her way saying in part, "This is the only way you're getting out of the trailer park." Daniels could not remember how she ended up on the bed, but testified that they had sex in the missionary position and Trump chose not to use a condom. Daniels insisted she was neither forced nor under the influence, but also said it wasn't something she wanted and that she "blacked out".

I've been using ModOrganizer2 via SteamTinkerLaunch, but the performance is not great.

I haven't tried tweaking anything to get it better, mostly because I don't know where to start.

Does anyone have advice on modding Skyrim (especially with SKSE) on Linux effectively?

I don't know if I'm blind or getting too old or what, but I cannot find the instance rules anywhere. Can someone help me?

ETA: for context, a comment of mine was removed and "rule 2" was cited but the rules in the TOS don't seem to be relevant.

I can't remember where I heard this originally, but I subscribe to the belief that you need to maintain the rights of criminals (like voting) to prevent tyranny.

Because if being labeled a criminal is enough to remove your rights, a corrupt government need only declare you one to take your rights away.

It used to be criminal in some parts of the USA for black and white people to intermarry, for example. Imagine losing your right to vote because of who you married.

The man has been leading by example for years. Remember when, during the Obama presidency, he refused to even call a vote on any Supreme Court nominees?

He has shown time and time again that he doesn't care about the unwritten gentleman's rules that the government has been (more or less) abiding by for centuries, and now he's shocked that his party is overrun by people with zero interest in working towards anything other than destruction?

He's a fool and he's dragged us down with him.

An article...about a tweet...quoting another tweet.

I mean, it's mildly interesting, but I don't know that this is really news.

[-] drislands@lemmy.world 82 points 8 months ago

Christ, you aren't kidding. The article is clear that he is saying it's too easy for higher ups to forget that employees don't have an investment in the success of the company overall, and that they need to try to empathize with their employees more.

Except it dances around it and has this idiotic title. Fucking trash website.

Can all the folks saying "I don't care" on this just stop? If this doesn't affect you, why are you commenting at all?

Some smart folks managed to reverse engineer Apple's secretive tech that they refuse to put on any platform they don't own, which is fucking awesome. Even if you don't give a shit about using iMessage, it's awesome they were able to stick it to Apple at all, and make the gap between iPhone and Android that much smaller.

And of course Apple comes in and breaks it. Do you not wonder why? Does this mean there was a minor security hole that was exploited or was it something else that changed? This arms race is fascinating, regardless of your preferred mobile OS.

Feels like a dumb question, but I haven't ever worn a pair of boots that didn't hurt in some way. Is this just a feature of boots, or am I doing something wrong?

It's been going on for months and no matter how many I mark as spam and block they keep coming back with new numbers!

Makes me wonder if someone signed me up for something

Officials said he refused to step off the vessel and threatened to kill himself. He also claimed that he had a bomb on board, according to court papers.

Oh so he's not a cool weirdo, he's a terrible weirdo. Damn.
