Eh, but this sort of thing is an actual practical use case of crypto, the problem as you pointed out is off ramping to a fiat currency, this is actually a sovable problem, you can wash your crypto funds, there are methods for literally perfect money laundering if you know what you're doing, and as long as you know someone who can cash them out and get the money to you you're good to go. Unfortunately it's annoying AF, I'm sure Hamas and whatnot are doing something like this but not your average Palestinian.

I have kids so yes, I must in a sense hope in order to maintain the tiny bit of sanity that holds my life together

This wouldn't even be possible at the place I work lmao. When I started there there was still a physical server in the building that housed my now empty desk (yeah it's still there after 4 years of work from home) hosting some of our applications, there was a room that had a filing cabinet filled with punch cards, we had to fill out paper forms sometimes to get access to a database. Our security team has no idea what they're doing, like they're not even technical, we have basically one very good dev ops guy frantically duct taping over processes designed, badly, in the early 2000s, their job will never be done and they'll never pay for another person if that calibre to join the team.

The idea of this happening to a bleeding edge 100 billion dollar tech company is fucking hilarious, I guarantee you the devs were constantly complaining to management about the possibility of such a scenario, and some poor overworked programmer is going to lose their career while their boss gets another high paying management job after the company goes under, or just retires out of savings.

"Gaza man with Down's syndrome attacked by IDF dog and left to die, mother tells BBC"

I think I object to these stealth fixes, the original headline should be considered a correction and clearly indicated

Vibing with everything you said, except I do have kids so I fear for their lives and happiness. I almost died at least once (car spun off and miraculously came to a halt on pure ice instead of crossing over to the other lane and hitting a semi), probably a few more times also..

How'd yours happen?

Wtf I actually need this

[-] dualmindblade@hexbear.net 13 points 5 months ago

I have nothing to base this on except my gut but it seems sort of implausible that engineers with the funding of a state, modern computer simulations and physics that is 80 years newer couldn't reproduce what the Americans did in the 40s in just a couple of years

Some of the students, and particularly the Greek culture, are really not okay, they regularly harass anyone displaying solidarity with palestine. https://texashillel.org/israel-block-party/

Unbelievably lucky for the eclipse, had a family gathering planned way ahead of time in Waco tx, some are older and anxious and wouldn't have been up for a journey onto the roads to try and get out of the clouds. It looked like the sun would for sure be obstructed at totality, it peaked out a few times leading up to it but never for more than a minute. But like a hole opened up just as totality was reached and it stayed for 3 whole minutes. Actually I was happy for the bit of clouds at the end because the obstruction allowed my phone to capture the last 60s and was still plenty visible with naked eye.

Super cool celestial event, spectacular even, would recommend!

It's perfectly possible to be racist and still not on board with genocide. Also just the general vibe is bad for Biden. People wanted a return to normalcy after trump/COVID and if anything the world has gotten more bizarre. Personally I am somewhat nostalgic for the trump years, the last 4 years have been the worst of my life and I'm surely not the only one. Not that that should have anything to do with who is president but also people are even dumber about politics than they are in general

60 pounds is only enough to put 100000 into a k hole, and that's if they IM it, otherwise it's like 60k max

It's still super cool to be able to send short messages with provable security. Also if you're not quite as paranoid you can just exchange a key for use with a symmetric encryption algorithm, which is almost certainly unbreakable even with a quantum computer.
