And to be clear I don't expect reform from within to save the country, but perhaps it may buy the world enough time for revolution

The one lingering hope I have is that the democratic party will suffer such a catastrophe that it can be remade or replaced. I have an unpopular opinion which is that I think we are running out of time for actual revolution in the US, as in overthrow our terrible government, I don't expect the system to collapse on its own as many do, so I must maintain this hope

It's conceivable that running at a lower wattage could crud up the coils more quickly, so charge it all the way. I hope this goes without saying, don't make a disposable your main vape it's obscenely wasteful

Alright, fair, I will

It really is, another thing I find remarkable is that all the magic vectors (features) were produced automatically without looking at the actual output of the model, only activations in a middle layer of the network, and using a loss function that is purely geometric in nature, it has no idea the meaning of the various features it is discovering.

And the fact that this works seems to confirm, or at least almost confirm, a non trivial fact about how transformers do what they do. I always like to point out that we know more about the workings of the human brain than we do about the neural networks we have ourselves created. Probably still true, but this makes me optimistic we'll at least cross that very low bar in the near future.

Unless your tolerance break is like 6 weeks plus and you also plan on being buzzed all day every day that's not going to be an issue. The real concern is you might develop a taste for it, and that's going to apply to just about anything that even remotely substitutes for THC. Heavy exercise plus eating unhealthy food plus media binge

Yes, odd numbers of loops can always be made to work. If you glue a strip of paper so it makes a loop with a single turn you can twist it so it wraps around twice to lie flat. Notice that when you use a regular loop and pinch it you've basically recreated that scenario, you could glue it together at the pinch and cut off one side (see picture) and you'd just have a single loop with one twist, and you could repeat that process any number of times, each new twist crosses over in the opposite direction, undoing the twist previously created.

I don't think we have any fundamental disagreement. I think SSRIs are over prescribed not because people shouldn't be trying them but because their doctors aren't taking them off of it when they don't work or don't work well enough to justify the side effects.

I'm not convinced we will leave any fossil fuels unburnt without abolishing capitalism. Renewables will displace fossil fuel consumption more and more as prices drop and as compatible infrastructure is built, but as demand goes down the price of carbon fuels will also drop, when it gets low enough we'll of course start burning again. The industry has and will continue to plunge money into making extraction cheaper and demand for energy will likely continue to increase. It's hard to imagine energy ever being so cheap that it doesn't make sense, as in short term profit sense, to burn at least some fossil fuels. It's possible that we get close enough to net 0 that it's a rounding error but it seems at least equally plausible we end up at 30+ % of where we are now, if so all that carbon still ends up in the atmosphere within a century or two.

Drugs are drugs, drugism is a spectrum, cathinone is much closer to a "hard" drug than it is to caffeine and there's nothing wrong with that

This is not arrogance it's playful language for humorous effect. The real reason to not eat fake meat is that it usually doesn't taste very good no matter how you prepare it, whereas traditional vegan food can be amazing
