Instant karma. Weighted based on intent. E.g. If CEO cuts benefits to improve his stock value, then his balls explode. If a driver accidentally cuts someone off but feels bad about it, a full mosquito hits the windshield.

I'm honestly not sure if a vegan cat diet is possible or not, but random people giving unqualified advice that could easily lead a less knowledgeable person to harm an animal is a problem. What should have been done in this case is for a mod or admin to shut the discussion down with a note telling people to consult a qualified veterinarian regarding any change to their pets diet.

Pluto was demoted in 2006, Harambe was killed in 2016. We are not ready for 2026.

I hear he plans to bring in Patrick Rothfuss to pick up where he left off and also not finish the story.

Random guess, a php error caused Apache to log a ridiculous number of errors to /var/log and on this system that isn’t its own partition so /var filled up crashing MySQL. The user wiped /var/log to free up space.

I was planning to see a movie this weekend, but this story just reminded me how greedy and anti-customer that whole industry is.

I read that as commandlets and now I'm worried Powershell has given me brain damage...

Mitch McConnell is one of those people who make me want to buy a flagpole. So I can be sure to fly the flag at full staff when he finally dies.

Supporting Israel with weapons and UN vetos is the only leverage the US has over Israel right now. The US is sort of trying to be the supportive buddy who talks their friend down instead of just another country on the list that yells at them but does nothing else.

Problem is, Israel has made it pretty clear they don’t care if they lose US support (or don’t believe it can politically happen) and so that leverage is almost nil which is making the US and Biden look both complicit and weak.

The US is also having to react in real time to changing attitudes on Israel. A year ago, opposition to Israel would have been political suicide in the U.S. Now opinions are much more mixed. We see 13% in one vote willing to protest and vote uncommitted, but we don’t see the other end. What percent would shift their vote to Trump in support of Israel if Biden toughened his stance. Biden is trying to appeal to both sides, which is a terrible strategy, but I doubt he has a choice as he likely needs both sides to win…

Shopkeeper: soon the people in this town will be so paranoid and hateful to each other I will sell them all guns and watch as the inevitable violence outbreaks.

Me: this is America, we already have 1.2 guns per person (counting kids) and there was a shooting behind McDonalds just last week.

Shopkeeper: well, er, this will be so bad not even the police can stop it.

Me: way ahead of you. The police are already regularly shooting innocent and unarmed people and one was just in a shootout with an acorn.

I think this is the first time I’ve seen avatar mentioned in nearly a year. Weird how a movie series that popular generates so little discussion.
