I think the idea with printing the mold directly would be that it would probably be more expensive, and probably still have sharp edges. But the optimal process seems like it would be printing the initial model, creating the model with the cheap mould powder you can get at craft stores, then pour the silicone in that.

You just want it as easy to clean as possible too. Less nooks and crannies, something you can boil and clean if you want to use it with different holes.
