Yeah that's totally an option. Can have more than 1 account.

This app is still in beta, it isn't finished yet, that's why you can't post. I'd rather use Sync in beta than the other apps.

Yes the app has ads, this is his job, he has to be able to eat, the ads aren't intrusive.

$20 is nothing, you have to remember Lemmy's userbase is SMALL, so he has to up the price compared to his old Reddit version, other apps may have charged $5 of whatever, but that doesn't mean they should have done, it should have been more.

I'll easily spend $20-30 on a single dinner, but an app I use every day for hours it's too much? I'll spend $60 on a game I'll play for 10-20 hours, but on an app I'll use for far, far, longer it's too much?

Personally even in the beta state, it feels far more polished than any of the alternative apps. If you don't like Sync or the price, don't use it. But to be personally, Connect, Jerboa, Thunder, Voyager, and the rest, are inferior (and yes, I tried them all)

100% there's a hivemind. That's why I joined lemmy.one, downvotes are disabled to try and stop hivemind downvotings and encourage discussion. On local communities it works well, if only more of the bigger federations disabled them too.

I like Sync so no thank you

Yeah there's an empty box in my feed occasionally too, I did mention that in another comment. But it's better than seeing an actual ad.

I do hope the Dev changes his mind on a subscription, I'd much rather a single purchase like I did Sync for Reddit.

Ok, good for you. That doesn't change the fact that out of a group chat of 8 people, it happened to every one of us, it's happened to others and they raised issues on GitHub, and no one in my group wants to use Signal anymore.

Or should I tell them "Xengi on Lemmy said it doesn't happen to him so we must move back to Signal"?

Telegram, group chat moved from WhatsApp to Signal but it's too buggy that they hated it. Telegram has been good (privacy issues aside)

My friends and I tried Signal after the whole WhatsApp privacy issue thing arose.

Signal has been nothing but issues for us, plagued full of bugs. Images half the time would refuse to send. Videos would send but the audio would be slow even though the video itself was fine. Chat would load 200 messages prior then scroll down to the bottom on its own. The app doesn't have a good way of handling media so it'd grow to be 50GB in size, then if you backup Signal messages that'd double in size again.

Our group chat recently moved away from Signal, it's not perfect but at least are media is sending fine.

Yes, but apparently the NSFW side of the API will shutdown later on the 5th

Yes, AdGuard Home running network wide, then on my web browsers uBlock Origin on top of that.

Many websites are a cluttered ugly mess with ads and I dislike them. And don't don't me started on trackers.
