Why don't you just reflash the LOS image? You can get into bootloader, right? If you are there, just fastboot flash the LOS image: https://wiki.lineageos.org/devices/dubai/install/#flashing-additional-partitions

Than you should get to the LOS recovery, from there you can wipe? Or do you need authorization for fastboot as well like for adb?

Or is it a requirement that you need data from the phone?

How would it otherwise? Network based location?

Yes. Your phone could triangulate its location from nearby celltowers ane wifi networks. Google has a database of wifi routers (actually that was the point of google streetview, they collected wifi bssids alongside taking photos, they also collect this data from android devices).

With microg you can select from different dbs for this, they are called 'UnifiedNlp backends': apple has a similar db from iphones, mozilla used to collect this data with a separate app for MLS (they shut down the project in 2024 march). Microg builds an on device private db as well, it will remembers the wifi networks and celltowers you were close to, and next time you are there it won't need gps, saves a ton of battery life. This was called Deja Vu, I love this name. Search for UnifiedNlp on fdroid you can find some more options.

Since MicroG 0.3 you don't have to install these separately, Mozilla and Deja Vu are builtin, and they are more than enough

If I understand correctly:

  • Falwedi dock works everywhere
  • Kensignton dock has proplems on both computers on some ports.

If this is true,I think the problem is with the Kensington dock, not with the laptop.

The Kensington dock has a Realtek 8156 chip, this is the most important part, you have to search for this.

Here a reviewer got a defect dongle, Realtek replaced for him: https://www.cnx-software.com/2022/02/20/fixing-performance-issues-with-realtek-rtl8156b-2-5gbe-usb-dongle-in-ubuntu/

Here they have problems with this dongle and power management messing it up. I would take a look if some windows power settings messes it up: https://community.frame.work/t/solved-getting-the-rtl8156-2-5gb-adapter-on-ubuntu-22-04-solution-blacklist-tlp-from-device/23857

There was a vote about it in !meta@lemm.ee : https://lemm.ee/post/851217

I wanted to vote against defederation (edit: i was offline that week or something, I can see I didn't vote) I liked on this instance that we are treated as adults, and the admin let us decide what we want to see. You can block instances if you want. Defederating with Threads even before we can see how it would work goes against this philosophy.

Afaik there is no way to see anything from threads on lemmy yet, connection with mastodon like services work only, so we are again debating about a not yet existing thing.

If it will work between threads and lemmy I will look for another instance where I can devide what I want to see.

I've seen cheap solar powered garden lights which used AA sized rechargeable batteries literally yesterday. A friend asked me to take a look why they stopped working, and I was astonished that it was a standard size, not the classic box with the thinnest possible red and black cables as usually in cheap plastic stuff like that.

My solar powered keyboard uses ML2032 coin cell rechargeable battery. They are rare, but exists.

In the last 10 years they were struggling, the Williams family finally sold the team. There were some news about how chaotically they manage car parts, everything was in one big excel: https://arstechnica.com/cars/2024/03/formula-1-chief-appalled-to-find-team-using-excel-to-manage-20000-car-parts/

Lawson missed a race for this reason indirectly, they didn't have enough parts to fix the Albon's car, so Albon raced in Lawson's car in Australia at the beginning of the season.

DHT returns an ip based on a hash, what do you mean.

If you solely rely on DHT for searching for new things to download, than yes, that's a good way to get unwanted material on your hard disk, I don't recommend to do that to anybody at the curtent state of the technology. Don't mix up things deliberately, usually people don't do that, they get a torrent file or magnet link from a trusted source, than DHT can't mess it up.

Where is the link?

What is the actual name of this Media app? It should be org.media.something or similar, you should see it if you go to it's settings, and scroll down.

BTW it's very fishy that the usage time is exactly the same as syncthing. Maybe you sync something and it want to cache image previews or something like that. What do you sync with syncthing, do you download something or only upload?

It brakes some things. I tried to enable it on my main desktop, but some site were not working properly, I don't remember exactly what was the problem, but for me, with a decent desktop CPU, everything was better without it. On my low end laptop it helped a lot with intel graphics. It depends on your hardware, and they bet on the safe side.

We need amputatorbot here as well.

Non cancerous link, stripped from all g**gle tracking: https://techcrunch.com/2023/06/14/mechanical-turk-workers-are-using-ai-to-automate-being-human/

Compare this to OP's link:
