oh wow! congrats on prestiging the incremental gaming community!

i'm a big fan of Free/Libre/Open Source games and that includes a lot of incremental games (Trimps, Structure, AD, Fundamental, etc).
i don't have any accounts on corporate social media (like Reddit/Discord) so a more open incremental game community is a welcome change.
hopefully developers will add a "join Matrix room" button instead of asking you to sign up for Discord.

i started making a little incremental TIC-80 game a while back and maybe i'll actually finish it now that there's a community i can share it with.

Surely kbin has a better plan for handling this stuff than "PM the admin"? Does this site not have a moderation team? Otherwise anyone who wants to spam ads/hatespeech/etc just needs to create their own magazine or use a magazine with an absentee moderator: Ernest is overworked AF and there's no way he can moderate a site this big alone.

interesting.
the default config file is basically "Drew's preferences watered down a bit for a general audience"
alacritty used to be Drew's preferred terminal for sway.
sway does not come packaged with any terminal.

foot does not come with sway. why do you think foot comes with sway? foot and sway are unrelated.
they're both good wayland software, though

"while pregnant due to facial recognition technology" damn. facial recognition technology is a lot more invasive than I thought it was.

"Oriya’s Kiki"? Do you mean Kiki the Cyber Squirrel, mascot of Krita, designed by Tyson Tan?
Who's Oriya?

Owncast is an open source streaming platform. It's great for watch parties and it has its own built-in chat.

You can see a list of public streams in the Owncast Directory

People have been saying some variant of "the fediverse won't work at scale if it stays free and without ads" for a decade now. And yet it keeps growing despite remaining free and without ads.

the things you like about Reddit didn't exist when Reddit was the new alternative to the enshittification of Digg. KBin is brand new and Lemmy was not much more than a tankie hub until recently.

KBin and Lemmy will build the communities you're looking for over time. The question is: do you want those communities to develop under the shadow of the same algorithms, bots, and content you see on corporate social media, or do you want something new?

it's more like suspending someone who has engaged in bad behaviour in the past and is likely/promising to do it again. if you own your own fediverse site, you decide what the rules are and how to enforce them.

the difference between the fediverse and the corporate-controlled social media sites is that you can actually enforce your rules against larger companies on your own corner of the internet.
