Actually, what you describe is pretty typical for rural living in most first world nations.

Ruling classes don't care about peasants out in the country because it's easier to make more money off of city dwellers.

I totally agree. It's actually difficult for my brain to process all that detail. Part of it may be due to me being raised with ps1/ps2 graphics.

I don't really think it should be "worse" or specifically low-poly. There is a balance that can be struck and I feel that accepting the lowest quality possible is an excuse for developers to put in as little work as possible while still charging us as much as possible.

The UX at the end should never be identical.

It's why laypeople shy away from Linux. They prefer GUIs because GUIs are easier for users.

Should be illegal to put ads in something as crucial to day-to-day life as a banking app.

If it's not illegal, then everyone is going to do it and we won't have the "choice" that crapitalists love to tout so much.

cough You can pay a few grand and get access to SS7 networks.

Might be out of reach for most of us, but we can rest assured that any and all security firms and goverrnment agencies have access to this information at a moment's notice.

I figure similar to educating people on how burning fossil fuels contribute to global warming, it will just take time and experience to educate people on the value of decentralization.
