I mean, I'm sure at this point he has been exposed to most literature and works to not be a fascist, this won't get fixed with a gift. Maybe try to have a 1 on 1 conversation with him, let him speak an express why he thinks like that, let him go deep, let him talk about his feelings. Fascism always root on untrue information and resent. If he respects you, you can then talk about where he is wrong, confront the lies, but embrace him as a person.

If you want to win your son back, it will take real work, respect, and love. These people get lied to, and they believe because they are full of resent and want an explanation, someone to pin all the problems, an enemy. Uprooting that is hard, but sometimes family and friends can do it. If family and friends deepen those core beliefs, nothing is going to change.

I have a half baked story about friends, and the only white guy is a decoy hero that turns out to be the villain and dies a horrible death, leading the way to reveal the actual enemies of the story, cats.

What I say is, to hell with right wingers, they will hate your story if they are not the center of attention. Most media that includes minorities, does so putting them as token characters, so they don't rob the spotlight to the white person. Write whatever story feels good for you, aim to write the best story you can, and even if right wingers attack, you had made people happy with your work.

You should try plain Debian and KDE Plasma (the desktop it's one of the options of the shelf, you just pick it with the installer). I have been doing that and it's great, even with old hardware. Ubuntu is way too much bloated. And of course proton works like magic.

I came to say this. Steam's Proton is in some black magic fuckery status. It really runs windows games without problems. I had an old laptop which struggled to run windows 10 because telemetry and other shit services and windows update clogging everything, installed Linux and Steam and runs games I already gave up running there. I was very surprised at the fact that Linux gaming is very feasible nowdays. We have a lot to be thankful to steamdecks for.
