It’s kind of like substack, an alternative and much less moderated / thought-policed platform which does of course make it a home for racists, nazis, etc, who aren’t welcome on platforms that require liberal civility.

It doesn’t even take high tech CIA shit to read your messages when sent over HTTPS. Even basic law enforcement has been getting court orders for SSL keys for over a decade at least and there are private companies that sell spoofed or stolen root CA certificates to law enforcement.
SSL is a small hurdle they can simply step over. In many countries they wouldn’t even need a court order for law enforcement purposes and for national security espionage purposes they would all be doing it routinely. Why do you think VPNs are still legal?
