Actual fact: abortion is a life saving medical procedure

Well, not that I think it has to be your experience by any means, that's part of the beauty of life - we're all a bit different and into different things. I do quite enjoy penetration without need for lube (I mean, I do need to have natural lube, obviously). I usually get myself there with just hands and might use a dildo when I'm worked up enough. Vibrators are great, no doubt. I don't typically use toys, though, honestly. I did more in my teens when I was ignorant to how my body worked lol. Which is why I wrote the OG comment...I didn't have appropriate toys, and it caused some shame on occasion. I knew it felt good but didn't feel safe talking to my parents about it.

Uhh. Hi, woman here...RIP my inbox but I think it's important parents talk to teenagers of all genders about this and consider having them look for toys they can experiment with if they express interest. Just because we don't orgasm from penetration doesn't mean it feels bad lol. Better they have toys available so they're less likely to use something inappropriate.

I heard a pet behaviorist explain the mirror test for roosters/chickens had to be designed with consideration for them being social animals. They found when putting a mirror without other chickens around, the roosters wouldn't crow when a predator was flying overhead. Yet, with other chickens there, they did

Gotta know how to design the test, essentially

My dad has raged about this so much he's worked himself into apathy. He can't vote for a Republican or Democrat. Honestly, I'll take it. Means I'm at least canceling out my mom's vote, and my brother will get us the +1

I still expect republican voters to be fairly consistent, so remember folks, friends don't let friends not vote!

Yes, the sentencing ranges from probation to 4 years in prison. Given this is his first conviction and he's a former president, I assume probation will be given. Though, he's still under a gag order afaik...so if he violates that or probation somehow, maybe brief house arrest?

I definitely want pictures of him picking up trash with the secret service hanging around, at the very least

I'm still voting for Biden in a red state. We used to be more purple and really still are if looking just at the popular vote. He lost here by 500k votes in 2020 but it's very possible these narratives being pushed about swing states affect turnout more than we give credit for. We're lucky to get 50% turnout of registered voters in presidential elections. Local elections are more like 25% if we're being generous, and those are more important.

But have we considered seizing the memes of production?

Oh, that was one of the yellow flags! I mentioned that I'd been following the case with Tate, and he's a sex trafficker. Homeboy said "well it's not proven in court" like...sir lol. Fucking yikes. Definitely not ignoring that in the future

Oh, that line I gave him about logic was one of the last things I said as I finished picking up my stuff to walk out the door. I followed up with "it's been fun - good luck." He had just kept digging in and I told him I'm not taking it upon myself to educate him. He can read a book or two about it

Thank you for sharing your experience, though it fucking sucks. You're right that I do feel empowered for recognizing my worth. Just hate that it's coming from mistreatment, you know? Here's to finding empowerment through healthy means and healthy partners ๐Ÿ’œ

fuck the manosphere (lemmy.world)

I just want to vent a bit - I started seeing someone a few weeks ago. Old fling that I ran into through some friends that got rekindled, and I was excited that it seemed like more than just casual hookups this time. But there were some yellow flags I ignored that turned out to be red flags, and now I'm feeling frustrated and hurt.

Dude for real dropped the line that men are more "capable" and "logical" on me. That gender studies are "indoctrination." I told him we should probably stop seeing each other if that's really what he thinks. It wouldn't be logical for me to keep seeing someone that thinks lesser of me, now, would it?

I'm grateful to have some guy friends that I turned to after I left, cuz I wanted to go into "fuck all men" mode, but I know it's not true or helpful. Just like there are women out there that have internalized misogyny, there's feminist men, enbies, etc. We're all just people and we're not monoliths beholden to differences in biology. This is just sexist, manosphere bullshit in particular

Anyway. I'm still feeling angry and wanted to put it out there for some support and solidarity. Anyone have a recent win they'd like to share or something?

ETA: Thank you so much for the conversation y'all! I've been trying to keep up but I gotta get some sleep. I'll check in later but hope everyone has a good day. Keep up the empowerment! ๐Ÿ’œ

I know it's not the most engaging or thought provoking question, but I'm having a bad day and would really like to find a space to vent
