I watched Star Trek: The Next Generation first, then Deep Space 9, then started Voyager, but it wasn't as good IMHO.

Now watching select episodes from The Original Series, select episodes from Voyager, Strange New Worlds and Lower Decks.

Edit: New - -> Next

Most companies I worked with had a choice of the work laptop, usually Windows/Linux or MacBook. And the trick is, you cannot buy cheap MacBook. So the choice is using linux but with a terrible screen, unusable trackpad and bad hardware, or take MacBook and enjoy all premium.

So I always take MacBook and then ask for a local workstation where I will have linux with i3 / Sway WM.

This piece of interview with Roger Corman on Joe Dante's work on trailers is my fawourite:

"Were there any elements that you had to tell Dante to tone down?

Not really. There was one memorable moment when Joe showed me a trailer for a picture just before lunch. I said, “Joe, it’s alright, but it isn’t quite as exciting as I would like it to be.” He said, “Let me work on it through lunch.” I came back after lunch, and it was exactly the same trailer, trimmed a little bit, with an exploding helicopter. I said, “Joe, that’s an exploding helicopter from a war picture we shot in the Philippines!” He said, “Well, don’t you think it helps the trailer?” It did. It was great. And I thought about it for a little while, and I figured, there’s no law that says every scene in a trailer has to be in the picture. So we left it in. After that, whenever Joe had a dull moment in a trailer, he would add the exploding helicopter."

Most people don't care about ethics /politics or the networks and corporations. They will use what's convenient — familiar facebook where friends and family already are, instagram where you get (this frustrates me the most) announcements from cool places about events, twitter where shitshtorms and instant news happen and so on.

None of my friends moved or know about Fediverse. Some heard about Mastodon.

Arr, my friends. I have an old laptop already running some servoces on docker 24/7 at home and looking to extend it's functionalities to become torrent downloader with media server for TV. Need VPN for obvious reasons.

I was wondering if there are already all-in-one solutions to just run docler compose file and get 2 containers: one running torrent client with all traffic via VPN in another?

I plan to use Mullvad VPN.

Upd. Updated title to highlight it's a request. Not sure why getting downvotes, please elaborate :)

Many european countries have great immigration laws and opportunities. Some companies will offer relocation assistance and reimbursment. It's a challange, but it's possible.

Just please leave your cars behind :)

Something that I haven't seen mentioned on this topic:

having a spare charged battery with you also have so much more sense than carrying a powerbank. No losses transferring power to phone, no excessive heat, MUCH lighter.

This is what we have for radios (walkie-talkies), drones, cameras, but not for phones, where we really need this.

So far I found the fastest pipeline to get good results is to use Google Photos editor as a Google One subscriber. Most useful tools are Al sharpen, portrait blur, portrait lightong (not always good). Basic color/brightness tools work great.

Although I do miss some functionality like blur/pixelation brush (for anonymysation of faces and/or car plates), adding a png/ image overlay, colour replacement (and overall better grading tools), curves.

What's do folks use for photo editing on Android?
