I don't see the hate for storing data in a sqlite database. It's still your data, you get to do with it as you please, and I've yet to see the data encrypted (let's not give anyone any silly ideas here). You want to see your data outside of the program, just download any sqlite viewer. If you don't mind CLI, then the tools provided by sqlite are more than good enough and are only a few MB in size.

When I searched for a cheap VPS I settled on IONOS's XS package (this 1€/month). It's one of the cheapest out there. Bonus is that it's a company we all recognise and can reasonably trust. And there are no weird gimmicks either; it's just straight forward.

One thing missing from this XS package compared to their other packages from IONOS is that there is no resource monitor on their web panel, which can be useful if you don't want to set up your own.

I'm using a 128GB phone and it's never full. But I export photos And videos off it once every 6 months. If I didn't I'd need 1TB phone.

Whilst true, this has only been available with Firefox nightly. I've found some extensions break the collection where none of the extensions load until you remove the one that breaks it.

I'm not saying that Lemmy is perfect but it feels like both can have a similar vibe. A lot of Lemmy people were/still are Reddit people and so it makes sense that both have similar vibes.
