I'll see your Star Trek and raise you The Culture.
No, I don't think so. Today I've read and participated in some great threads about UK politics, the books people are currently reading, some great metal (the music genre) recommendations, Linux distros that are both privacy respecting but easy to use and a few other things.
I was on reddit pretty much from the start of the Digg migration. It's not really comparable as reddit didn't have subs or comments at first it was literally a link aggregator with votes. When they did start appearing it was OK and then it got increasingly not OK very quickly. I took long, long breaks from it over the years and every time I succumbed and returned with a new account it was noticeably a lot worse. I won't go back again as it feels like every sub, even the smaller ones, are just bombs either constantly going off or about to go off. It thrives on negativity.
Lemmy simply isn't like that. I'm not naive enough to think it never might be, but right now it's not. Of course there are fall outs and anger but not at the same level of constant vitriol I got accustomed to seeing on reddit.
Lots of people and countries are claiming Russia is committing genocide and are investigating that possibility.
Several nations and legal institutions have also classed China's actions against the Uyghur as genocidal.
However, as far as I'm aware neither Russia or China are signed up to the ICC so there's not much point in using that body to penalise them.
Israel is though and your claim there's no proof is literally true (in the sense you used the word 'proof') but there is plenty of evidence that Israel certainly has genocide very much in the forefront of their minds when members of the Israeli government suggest nuking Gaza, or creating 'no go' areas for Palestinians in recognised Palestinian areas that just so happen to be where Palestinian farmers grow and harvest food. Israeli historian of the Holocaust Omer Bartov warned that statements made by top Israeli officials "could easily be construed as indicating a genocidal intent."
That is true, no disagreement here. That's the truly scary thing about the man - he clearly does represent a lot of people.
But right now, he is the immediate danger.
I understand that. Neither option is 'good'. But one of the options will (in my opinion) have a bloody good go at removing your ability to have the option at all in the future.

It's now a better search engine in that VPN users don't get thrown off after two searches anymore. But the fact that it's owned by a data harvesting company means it's a risk to use.
Lots of people mentioning Kagi. Sorry, but any engine that needs an account to work is not for me. They say you can pay anonymously, but none of their payment methods are anonymous. And $10 per month for unlimited searches?
Fucking well done Ohio.
It is still in there.
And that's another part of this bill - discussion of 'illegal immigration' is now forbidden.
Go and check who's currently second in line to the US presidency then tell me the far right aren't rising in power. Thinking it's a false narrative to trick leftists is the best way to reverse Uno yourself into fascist totalitarianism I can think of.
