I ripped the bandaid off a month or so ago. Went with LMDE. Haven't looked back. Steam runs all my games through Proton just as good as they ran on Windows, if not better.

If you go with FUTO keyboard, do these as soon as you download it:

  1. Turn on the machine learning feature for swipe typing (entirely local - nothing about the keyboard phones home)
  2. Allow curse words
  3. Make autocorrect your bitch, and I mean really force it

If you do these things, it will - eventually - figure out your typing habits. But it's worth it. I've been using it for a month or so and, outside of some odd quirks, it's working pretty well. Even has a clipboard manager and a "paste" button (for fat-fingerers like me), among other neat tools.

Oh, and don't forget to drop it into Obtainium so it can be updated, as it's not offered through any app store.

It's worth noting that Dodge (yes, that Dodge) were the ones who took Ford to court over it. If you want the reason why shareholders come first, blame Dodge.

Oh yeah, I have at least 10 apps on that haha. Fantastic piece of software. I use it for apps that aren't hosted on any sort of marketplace.

Great example: If you shop at Harbor Freight (American bargain tool store), then you're probably aware that they always have coupons for various tools. Someone created a database that catalogs all of their current coupons, HFQPDB, and they also provide an app (android only). The app isn't found anywhere else except that site.

@moe90@feddit.nl clearly doesn't give a shit. They're a serial poster.

It's been temporarily pulled more than a few times due to the ever-increasing requirements.

I carry two laptops in my work bag regularly, a 15" and 14"

Ironic because Thinkpad T- and P-series laptops are some of the most robust machines you can get for a reasonable price these days.

Of course, the IBM that launched the Thinkpad line is a completely different company than the IBM that helped commit WWII atrocities... But it doesn't matter anyway because they sold the entire PC division to Lenovo 20 years ago.

I don't think anybody expected that. This is just a shitty headline.

Preface - I enjoy car stuff, so there's more than a few car channels here:

  • Legit Street Cars
  • Deboss Garage
  • David Freiburger (roadtrips)
  • Louis Rossmann (when he does long stuff)
  • DefunctLand
  • Junkyard Dave
  • Technology Connections (No-effort November is wonderful)

I have an Aukey something-or-other in my minivan that's followed me through three cars now... Planning on getting a Viofo dual camera for my wife's Highlander.

Biggest thing to look for in a dashcam is a supercapacitor instead of a battery. Lithium-ion batteries aren't well-suited for extreme temperature swings that most cars see.

One final thought: GPS is neat, but can and will absolutely be used against you in court: "oh, see OP was going 37 instead of 35; if OP wasn't speeding, then this could have been avoided entirely"
