In recent weeks, the U.S. military struck at least three boats from Venezuela allegedly carrying narco-traffickers and drugs ... The administration has not provided evidence that drugs were on all of those boats. But an official in the Dominican Republic, alongside one from the U.S. Embassy there, did say at a press conference Sunday that drugs were found in the water after one strike.

That's not evidence, and even if one of the boats was carrying dope this is still using military force to carry out summary murder.

Some Trump administration officials are disappointed that the United States’ military escalation does not appear to have weakened Maduro’s grip on power or prompted any significant response, the official familiar with the discussions said. ... Maduro has previously denied any role in drug trafficking and has repeatedly alleged that the U.S. is trying to force him from power. ... Trump administration officials have not ruled out regime change as another aim of these military operations, and they have increased pressure on Maduro himself. NBC News previously reported that the administration’s goal, according to the source familiar with its thinking, is to force Maduro to make rash decisions that could ultimately lead to him being ousted without American boots on the ground. ... Secretary of State Marco Rubio has been one of the voices championing regime change,

Yes, I allege that you are trying to do to me the thing that you say you are trying to do. MSDNC just as brain-busted and Fox News.

This is something I would drive myself to madness with. Tuning in to NPR's Marketplace show in the morning and they'd talk in their very clever and very polite ways about how the Fed wanted to raise interest rates to "slow the economy" to "combat inflation" and knowing that nakedly meant the plan was to immiserate working people.

Prrreeetty concerning. Obviously there is no Antifa as an organization and but I would be cautious to call this meaningless. Seems more likely they will use this to slap domestic terrorism charges or conspiracy charges on anyone who is organizing against ~~incipient fascism~~ fascism in progress in this country. Stay safe out there, hopefully this won't affect me because I am a center-left Democrat.

I do like that they list anti-fascism as obstructing ICE and law enforcement, which means that those groups are .... hmm I'm drawing a blank here.

If Al Qassam Brigades have been holding back from this, good.

If Al Qassam Brigades have determined that now is the time to do this, GOOD.

I've got a (D) relative who worked their whole life for the MIC - who gets along just fine with (R)s, curious thonk - who dropped the "I don't hate the people I just hate their government" line about China and it got me thinking.

What happened after the dissolution of the Soviet Union? Massive collapse in life expectancy and standard of living, explosion in drug abuse and alcoholism, prostitution, child abuse, well-positioned capitalists and underworld figures snapping up the people's assets for ~~pennies~~ kopeks on the ruble, just complete disaster. What the hell do they think is going to happen to one billion Chinese if the CPC is replaced with a capitalist ruling class?

And for that matter, how would your average USAian react to a Chinese saying, I don't hate the American people I just want to liberate them from their capitalist government and institute a dictatorship of the proletariat? Truly a lack of awareness and aptitude for projection that continues to stagger me.

Sorry I was sparse on the details, yes the shooter had an AR-15 with a suppressor. It wasn't clear what the detectives who went into the house were armed with. It was also not clear how TaCtIcAl the entry was so I may have overstated things in my spoiler tagged bit above. The two officers in the street, one was a sheriff's deputy armed with a pistol, he was shot then got his rifle, and the other was a detective with a rifle.

This happened on the 18th of September, it was posted here when it happened before details were known so I wanted to share it a little. No spoiler but CW for stalking and description of the shooting.

Deadly York County shootout that left three officers and suspect dead | Motive, how it happened

Authorities release names of 3 police officers killed in Pennsylvania shooting: Updates

The shooter was stalking a young woman who he briefly dated, went to the farm where her and her mother lived, and was waiting in ambush. They had put up a trail cam because the daughter's truck had been set on fire last month and they suspected the man, who had never been to the farm or invited there previously. They spotted him on the trail cam so they left and called the police.

The cops got there and swept the area and the surrounding fields with a drone, saw the house was unlocked so four of them went in and were immediately ambushed, leaving 3 dead and 1 wounded. The shooter fired at two sheriff's deputies in the street from the house, wounding one, then it sounds like he advanced on them and died in a shootout.

Guy definitely would've killed the woman and her mom if they'd been home or returned first. Guy killed dog in the basement.

This was all pretty depressing IMO. The district attorney correctly said this was caused by the scourge of domestic violence. Attorney general Pam Bondi called it an attack on our law enforcement, which whatever, fash is gonna fash. At the press conference Gov. Josh Shapiro said something about doing better for mental health for people who think picking up a gun is the answer - that bit really stuck in my craw. This is a typical line from politicians who don't want to grapple with gun violence, it is weasely in general but applying it to a DV situation was upsetting to me.

Also, spoiler because this sounds like fedposting

spoiler

one jerkoff with a long gun inflicted 100% casualties on an assault team comprised of four veteran law enforcement officers, and 50% casualties on a two man security team.

That's terrible! Is the crossing okay?!
To make this more than a joke reply I'll say that military units guarding entry into illegally occupied territory sound like legitimate targets, and that is before accounting for the mass abductions and ramping up for further settlement construction that is ongoing.
