Who didn't this coming? Seriously, meta will take what they want to increase the capital and makes everything else invisible.

Fediverse isn't here to say yes to everything. We have the freedom to say no and this is the power of the fediverse. It's allowing and denying. And Meta is a threat to the fediverse.

Politics is bout ideology, value and belief. But here, it's about making decisions by dogmatism and cult. This is a whole different level.

EU should double down with a regulation stipulating that people are free to install whatever OS they want on devices (smartphones included) and companies can't gatekeep it.

So they're admitting regulations work. They are making a lot less money due to random ads instead of targeting ads so they will have to charge to be sure they are still making too much.

I can't wait for the next regulations against tech corporations and social media.

Twitter under Elon looks similar to the UK under Brexit.

This is one of these problem with multiple unsolvable issues:

  • people are used to ad block and won't change
  • the price is too high for part of the population (-> ad block for part of them)
  • $1/month, $10/year would attract new paid account but not that much
  • people can't afford/don't want a subscription everything
  • users don't see any value in it
  • a fraction of the paid will go ad block with the price increase
  • people will circumvent the ad block block
  • capitalism
  • ...
