Let's call it the fediverse. :)

You will love it. I switched about 6 months ago and it's wonderful. When I was using duckduckgo I had to use the !g keyword to search Google sometimes. With Kagi, it's basically switch and you forget Google exists.

Set it as default and you will see what I mean.

I liked this one better. The repeating last sentence was enough to get it. :)

Well money itself is meaningless, so capitalism is also meaningless. It's most humans wasting their days and their lives because they have to work.

It's a big hamster wheel to keep us busy.

Firefox is still the best browser. :)

You must be like all other trans people or we can't put a label on you. Didn't you get the memo sent out from Trans Headquarters?

[-] mrmanager@lemmy.today 8 points 2 years ago

Had no idea this existed. Thanks!

Well of course. The instance stores all data in a postgres database. How else will it be able to remember anything?

Maybe this is not obvious to non-programmers but you never see everything in the user interface for any system. There are tons of records needed for the system to track everything that goes on.

Since posts are federated, they will exist in the local db as well as on each instance.

I started using Lemmy like that, without any apps. It's fine, specially on desktop.

That the new Jerboa only works with instances on version 0.18 means a lot of users will be unable to use their instance anymore when Play store pushes the new version.

They may also be unable to roll back to previous version since that is not supported by Play store AFAIK.

So yeah, not a great situation to be in. And we won't hear from those users because they can't log in anymore.

So a lot of pain may come from this upgrade, instead of happiness. Instance owners can try to upgrade to version 0.18 as soon as possible but then they lose captcha support until 0.18.1 comes out.

Don't want to complain too much though, since it's been super hard work for the main devs to get this release out. But yeah, could be some problems up ahead.
