"Exceptional measures" until they become the new norm.

Ah yes, the usual method of waiting until the issue becomes confirmed and also way too severe to fix instead of acting on precaution and harming profits of private companies. What could go wrong?

That wasn't Napoleon but the French revolution. They implemented new decimal timekeeping, new decimal calendar and all the jazz - partly because they were fans of metric, partly because they absolutely wanted to get rid of all the old (=feudal and/or religious) things.

It's not exactly universal. In Germany, this can be interpreted as you warning of a pending emergency and trigger slowdown; they'd do thanks by signalling left-right-left-right rapidly.

Funny how Semmelweis got similarly shitty treatment for the same idea. Though he wasn't so much as laughed at as much as beaten to death in a psych ward.

Same question as No Man's Sky, though. Sure, the game wasn't good on release... but they stuck to it, fixed it, and now it's better. So what matters more, that they screwed up initially or that they managed to patch it up over time?

It doesn't help Google is locking down android more and more with each release, inching closer and closer to Apple's shitty philosophy without the same guaranteed support.

This is the only effective way to protest reddit, though.
