I don't know the details but both use services from the carrier. I think google hosts for the carriers but there are checks thats rely on the carrier. If you look at the details for google messages it address specific URLs based on the carrier.

For iPhone its all carrier depend. If the carrier doesn't support it, iPhone will not have it.

Whatever you can afford for pixel 8 and above, if possible. Those will be supported for longer.

Overall works well. Sizing is a bit large but can be worth it for the universal distribution.

Allows for more software to get out there.

Use any exchange that only needs a wallet then trade the token for bitcoin. The real issue is switching cash to coin.

Pretty much this. Nothing is really holding them back from collecting data so its easier for them to do this in bulk. They do buy data as well from information brokers. Bigger companies usually have wider reachers to collect more. They have pretty much free range when we agree to use their products, forced or otherwise.
