😬 That's a little ambiguous......

She added that her government seeks to "diplomatically solve everything related to the oil shipments (to Cuba) for humanitarian reasons."

What if I need my firewire cable this year?!

[-] paequ2@lemmy.today 19 points 10 months ago

LOL! YES! I remember hearing, "Maybe that's what he said, but that's not what he meant."

[-] paequ2@lemmy.today 17 points 10 months ago

Yep. I didn't realize the flatpak version worked better. I never get those manual update prompts anymore and Software Center automatically updates Discord when there are updates.

How do updates work with WOW computers? Or does the software just never get updated? Or do you just update the computer for him every now and then? What distro is this using underneath?

Ah, yes. I remember the summer we had Google Chome. Then Google killed it off, like they always do, and they relaunched/rebranded it as Chrome.

if the cameras don’t load, open Tailscale and make sure it’s connected

I've been using Tailscale for a few months now and this is my only complaint. On Android and macOS, the Tailscale client gets randomly killed. So it's an extra thing you have to manage.

It's almost annoying enough to make me want to host my services on the actual internet....... almost... but not yet.

I found some thread on the Discord saying that you should

install using abroot should be the Best option

But then nobody posts how to do that...

Have any VanillaOS 2.0 Orchrid users here successfully installed Tailscale?

I'm trying it out for the first time and reading the handbook here: https://docs.vanillaos.org/handbook/en/updates

However, I noticed the page says:

This guide is for Kinetic (22.10), not Orchid.

And when I tried running command to check for updates, I got this.

$ vso update-check
Error: unknown command "update-check" for "vso"
Run 'vso --help' for usage.
ERROR unknown command "update-check" for "vso"

I could wait for the normal update job to run, but I'm being impatient. :)

how concerned you quickly become with all types of water

LOL, yes! 99% of my problems these last 5 years have been related to water. It's really made me want to learn more about plumbing.

but I’ve heard these days it’s not unusual to tip up to 40%!

That seems pretty unusual to me.

I normally tip 20%.

The full quote in dirty imperial units:

I live my life a quarter mile at a time. Nothing else matters: not the mortgage, not the store, not my team and all their bullshit. For those ten seconds or less, I’m free.

How was this translated to metric?

I know people like this. For some reason people affected by different policies are surprised because they thought he was kidding. Deportations? Na, he's not actually gonna do that. Tarrifs? Na, he wouldn't do that.

I know, he literally said he would, but idk.

Currently, my email is hosted at Migadu. The email hosting is fine. However, they don't seem to offer strong *DAV support. They don't really advertise it and the little documentation they have says "we offer basic calendar support. Please be aware this is a beta feature and some functionalities are missing".

Is there such a thing as a DAV provider, like email provider, but only for WebDAV, CardDAV, and CalDAV?

Or is the answer just to self host Radicale or sabre?

It seems like if I want better DAV support, I'd have to switch email providers... which is kinda annoying.

I still keep my contacts and calendars on Google because it seems the most stable. I don't care about having the maximum possible privacy, I just care about not losing the data.

Someone told me about etesync, but I didn't like it because it's not DAV and you have to use their client apps.

I'm really surprised that most companies have standardized on DAV for contacts and calendars. That seems great because (theoretically) I can use any client.
