I've walked barefooted up and down a Canadian mountain similar to Cradle with snow still fully on the path, so it is doable... But I wouldn't recommend it and even less so if you've not previously hiked barefooted.

Tasmania is also deceptive, it can look 20C one minute and be below zero the next.

Agreed that shoes probably make sense.

When I was a teen I put a disco ball in my room. One morning I woke up and I was yawning and stretching my arms out and at the end of the stretch I basically unknowingly back punched/slapped the disco ball.

I have a scar since that day on my hand that reminds me how quickly things can go bad in life.

I'll ask some basics:

Is the ubiquity switch the flex-xg? Make sure you're using the 10G ports as the poe port is only 1G.

I'm assuming all the ethernet cables are rated for 10G?

Are any of the switches or NICs manually configured to negotiate at a lower transmit rate?
