I just want to get a better understanding on linux and I think arch is the way to do it. I love computers and I want to know them well.

Is bash ultimately better than dolphin or another file manager? I always thought that it just seamed slow having to read things out with no icons and having to type the filename instead of double clicking. And I have been avoiding installing applications through terminal because I can't find how to properly uninstall them including all data (the fedora software center does this really easily) I have also had some trouble going further back that my user folder in the terminal I still havn't figured out how to do that. Lastly what are some "user friendly by virtiue of having few moving parts" distro's that you recommend?

I am still dual booting because some games I play just don't work properly but other than that I am doing everything I can on Linux.

That's kind of awesome, thanks!

Welcome! I'm not as brave as you I'm still dual booting.

There are ways to send all of your internet traffic over tor. For example tails os does it by default.

And tor is definitely more secure than a vpn. Any VPN company can just log all your internet traffic and sell it if they want to. Compared to tor you will need to gain access to at least 2 nodes that the internet traffic goes through in order to get any mildly useful information, that is significantly harder than with a VPN.

Also I just wanna say arguments like these are so fun to read

I want to talk to people online but reddit is too yucky. Lemmy has a better community than reddit and it's not for proffit open source decentralized and all the other things that I love.

how do you change swappiness?

In my experience open source has been getting really intuitive ui, at least for more basic apps like messages, that are just as good or better than proprietary equivalents. It's not like apps like apps like matrix aren't being used because they look bad because a lot of the clients look and feel really good.

Oh wait could you use this for setting up a LAN gaming session or making a gaming server without port forward? That would be sick!
