I do think it's interesting that a lot of people seem to think AI is going to take away jobs but understanding AI just a tiny fraction, it seems like the things that are threatened are one that were already micro serviced away like internet search.

We use search everyday and having the best search engine means being the best tech company. These companies are in a race to topple Googles search dominance through providing AI as a service. There's money in them hills if you can train an AI to recommend when and where to go buy the newest shiny thing that solves all your problems.

I agree with a lot of your points but I do think containers a great solution.

I've been a really big fan of Universal Blue lately. It presents a strong argument for containerizing everything. Your core is immutable and atomic which makes upgrades seamless. User land lives in a container and just gets layered back on top afterwards.

Most of us like to believe that they have earned what they have but instead we're all fragile burdens on society who contribute nothing at all so we cling to spaces where we can be intellectually superior amongst a group of our currently selected peers to justify our parasitic existence. A lot of kind people gave us everything we have and we do not acknowledge them and we fail them everyday.

OpenAI now needs to go to court and argue fair use forever. That's the burden of our system. Private ownership is valued higher than anything else so ... Good luck we're all counting on you (unfortunately).

I think HoloISO is a good target for compatibility. Valve hasn't released a generic ISO for steam OS yet but much of their efforts have made their way upstream. They've then landed into other projects like chimera and bazzite. Since this device hardware targets HoloISO it should mean that it will be easier to install other operating systems on it and get full functionality.

I see this as an absolute win.

Everyone says "just install Linux" so I challenge all of you to do so. Please pawn it off on a small child who's just getting into computing. Time to pay it forward.

In the eWaste scenario, you can easily get an SSD for 100$ and bring anything back to life. What distro are you giving to your niece/nephew? The best thing you can do is tell them "If you wanna play fortnight, you're gonna have to figure out how to install windows".

Most of them will give up, but a small % of them will figure out how to get windows running on that heap of trash in spite of you giving them Linux and at that point your trash has added real value to the world.

Getting a child to install an OS is magical.

Happy Holidays folks

I originally started using brave because at the time it was the most feature complete alternative to chrome. Now I would like to switch but I would still use chrome cast for music streaming (I have quite a few of them).

Last time I checked casting audio was missing as a feature in most deGooogled versions of chrome. Does anyone have any suggestions for browsers that allow me to stream audio from my browser to Google Chromecast?
