Hört man leider immer wieder.

Hi all,

the firefox clone Fennec from F-Droid uses way to much storage.

I was not able to clean it. I am also very afraid of loosing history and stored passwords.

Anybody knows how to savely reduce this? The big storage must be caused by cached Images and or Videos, right?

Because some users experienced accidential grows like OP had 160 Gbyte. So general advice for linux users can be stated as: Check your ~/.cache every now and then

Critical systems/servers shall better be monitored as you suggest.

[-] redd@discuss.tchncs.de 25 points 11 months ago

So OP's headline should be saying instead: Reminder to CHECK your ~/.cache folder every now and then

I always felt that there should be some user directory like /tmp/ which will be wiped regularly.

Dear F-Droid fans, users and maintainers,

I am trying to understand the Security Vulnerability Process. It seems like if an App uses a code library with a known vulnerability, the version can be tagged with

antifeatures:
      - KnownVuln

This was broadly added in one previous Merge Request last year: https://gitlab.com/fdroid/fdroiddata/-/commit/b90b2c53e5de4d1e30c5a883eb41faa74ed6c0f7

It seems like the corresponding CVE identifiers (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Common_Vulnerabilities_and_Exposures) are not listed when an App is tagged. So a user just sees a generic warning, and needs to investigate on it's own to check the severity and details.

Any thoughts or additions?

thanks!

Most delivery companies actually use OpenStreetMap in Europe. Especially if they deliver with bicycles, since OpenStreetMap has much more accurate mapping for bikes. Especially bike lanes and very often also smoothness, ground material. And also if bikes are allowed on the opposite direction of a one way street.

Think about service providers (government, banking, messaging, streaming, gaming). To participate in life we might depend on some of their services but don't fully trust these parties. Flatpak is not secure/sandboxed enough to run untrusted apps. Meanwhile on Android the situation looks much better.

[-] redd@discuss.tchncs.de 13 points 1 year ago

That doesn't help outside of home. When we are in an untrusted network then the DNS mess makes us vulnerable for spoofing attacks.

  • Are you using Flatpaks?
  • Are you trusting Flathub?
  • Do you bother about the sandboxing and security?
