yep, having that under control of one corporation is unacceptable. Imagine if some corporation owned pyramids or caves full of paintings by first humans to such extent they could grind it all to gravel if they wanted. Right now they are preventing fair use of the content too, by forbidding downloads of the videos.

Google has way too much control anyway, since google account has become too important for many people and getting it suspended would mean catastrophe to such individual.

I have thought about this too, though more in terms of selling it as a service. In my opinion, linux could be the best option for people who cant use computer since we can just make it easy to use for them, that isnt possible with mac or windows since they are so locked down and we just have to make due with what some corporate idiot decided.

Maybe its easier to start by making EVERYTHING forbidden and allowing things that are needed. Then also make somekind of backup system for things that might get ruined so it can be easily restored. Also hide everything from that account that isnt necessary to see. I cant say i'm expert regarding linux though, this is just something i would try starting with.

kubuntu seems nice based on descriptions. I'm mostly torn between that and fedora now. I have always been a little anxious about malware and cyberattacks. But to temper my "paranoia" i'm also a bit lazy or rather want to avoid needless work. Is it easier to make kubuntu as secure as fedora than make fedora as easy to use as kubuntu? I even asked the ai about it and it said fedora might require more manual configuration. Then there is also the perspective of threat actors which would likely rather target the most popular choice. I fear that might become more relevant in the future as world is going to shit.

imo, even cosmetic micro-transaction stuff is disgusting. In single player its absolutely intolerable and in multiplayer its at the edge. Not only it makes creating almost non-existent content more profitable, likely at the expense of worthwhile content because any development costs money. Why make the game better when you can create more cosmetics. I'm not saying creating cosmetics is trivial, but making new skin vs creating actually new content are on completely different scales, especially when those new skins are sometimes just recolouring old ones.

Not having access to cosmetic stuff without paying extra also often detracts from the game for me. As example, in game v-rising there are some cosmetics packs for different skins for your castle's furniture. While you can furnish the place decently with stuff you get, you can be much more creative if you have access to the alternative skins.

If they were all part of some larger expansion pack with something more than just skins, I could accept it but if i have to buy every theme pack separately, I'm not going to do that. I would have much less money available if i had to buy every damn dlc to every game I play. I'd say building and decorating your castle is 50% of the game, less if you don't care about how your castle looks at all. Not buying these dlc make the game less enjoyable for me.

Things only happen when they are made happen. Also nothing begins big. there are probably at least small pockets of resistance everywhere, even if its just small groups of people or singular persons.
