For example on Reddit there is an active subreddit for learning my first language (German), where learners post questions about it and I frequently answer them.

There is such a community here too, and I am subscribed to it, but hardly anyone ever posts to it, so I have nothing to respond to.

Difficult to say without knowing your setup. The message is probably correct as written, the file system is for some reason read-only; perhaps you (intentionally or mistakenly) mounted it read-only, or your setup doesn't support mounting it for writing.

Rarely, but when I do: cutting in half, then eating it with a spoon. I never knew people did it other ways too.

There is no such thing as controlling the Senate 51-50. There are 100 senators and if there are only 99 voting (e.g. because one of them died), then if there was previously a 50-50 party split, party-line votes will now have 50-49 results, i.e. not a tie, i.e. the Vice President will not be asked to break a tie.

I use Ghost Commander as a file manager on Android.

I used to not understand it either. Now I understand that for normal people, it is an RSS reader where you just get notified when the sources you follow have something to say. For celebrities and organizations it is an advertising platform where they can remind their followers of their existence and tell them what they are doing.

This is exactly right. If you really want to browse privately, use Tor.

That is pretty much what I said. I was irritated by your wording "the actual 365.2425", which is just another approximation of the "actual" solar year.

  • most data on WMF servers is media files, most of them photos; Wikimedia Commons has at this point nearly 100 million of those; probably still less than many social media sites, though
  • this is true, but many people on social media are also only lurkers
  • the WMF projects get lots of changes every minute, just look at the recent changes page
[-] schnurrito@discuss.tchncs.de 1 points 1 year ago

I don't see that big a difference there tbh. The WMF nowadays also has a paid trust and safety team like a social media platform.
