Bro you're on kbin. How do you know how or why people do things on Lemmy?
On Android I really love Read You
For folks who agree with this sentiment, on Mastodon at least you can set up a temporary filter for fediverse stuff to have it all hidden. Not sure what your options are on Lemmy except maybe leave the fediverse subs like this. It would be nice to have a temporary mute feature for communities so you wouldn't have to remember to resub after the drama-of-the-week has died down
But they'll give legal ground to potential retribution.
Lol repost of https://lemmy.world/post/1101721 from the same community. Just goes to show you you can still have duplicates even if there's only one community.
The vibe I get is things were rushed out the door primarily as a shot across the bow to twitter.
Important to note that right now they have zero in house moderation.
I honestly don't think they want to steal users long term. Much easier to let things remain federated and let the volunteers eat the moderation costs while they monetize the data.
I would love to see more written content overall.
I saw somebody suggest that so long as you use the built in cross post feature the posts should be combined on web. That would make this a mobile only issue. I can't attest either way so if somebody more knowledgeable could chip in that would be appreciated.
I do think it's fair to criticize the decision to try to be one of the largest instances while only having four moderators. They should have accepted a place as a midsize instance with midsize communities in order to maintain their moderation goals. Or they could have worked to get more moderators. Blaming the defederated instances and mod tools seem disingenuous at best. That said mod tools undoubtedly need improvement.
That's why I'm specifically suggesting we try to get them on the specialized instances. Where culture and moderation policies are least similar from Reddit. Somebody else pointed this out in the other thread and I do absolutely think if we don't point them to a specialized instances then beehaw is the place to go.
