Most people probably didn't consider the internet something that could be monopolised at the start either.

We have the same view on private social media.

IMO we should treat this like any other instance that goes against what we want to see on the fediverse, defed it on all the main instances and if someone wants to access it they can have a threads account or an account on a small instance that is federated with them.

Some non privacy considerations:

  • mod workload increasing to unsustainable levels with the overnight addition of millions of users
  • meta would be a large enough instance to be considered a monopoly of the entire fediverse
  • the fediverse goal of putting control of social media back in the hands of users would no longer be possible if companies controlled the majority of the space

I mean that's already happened with hexbear to a certain extent for IMO very little reason and of course happens to fascist instances understandably.

It should be up to each instance but if there was a vote tomorrow on lemm.ee I'd vote to preemptively block any corporate instance.

My friend, the IOF policy to drop bombs and white phosphorus over densely populated areas (a war crime btw) puts civilians in the line of fire intentionally.

Never mind their policy to shoot any IOF soldiers and settlers who are being taken hostage.

So no ceasefire till every Palestinian is dead? IOF has a 99% civilian casualty ratio, to take out Hamas fully the civilian death toll would be massive.

A cancer is something that spreads and kills the host. Oh I've just described isaerl, funny that.

Resistance to oppression is always justified. You can critically support groups like Hamas because they are the only ones fighting the oppressor. If the UN was actually stopping Israel I wouldn't need to vocally support the next best thing.

I mean the Wikipedia article you linked only mentions relying on Israel for desiel fuel.

On the other hand even if Egypt provided fuel to Palestine, Israel has been bombing the crossing so not even humanitarian aid is getting through.

I find it hard to consider that as part of the liberation since it happened after independence. Looks more like state violence aimed at a minority to me.

I picked an example that I knew the context would be almost universally thought of as morally good even though the act in it's self is indefensible.

I'm not comparing those two either, the IDF exists and makes a great comparison against other fascist state's armies. French resistance fighters also definitely killed innocent civilians and children so still makes a decent comparison since society views violent resistance against certain oppressors even with civilian casualties as okay and some as terrorism.

Also Imagine being so braindead that thinking being against fascist states means you are antisemitic.

Dyslexic but but nice try

The people in Palestine are unsafe because of the powerful fashist state trying to wipe them out.

Jews and Palestinians in Israel are safer because they have all the military power and funding from the American religious quacks.

It's not a fair comparison.

Edit: leaving the typo for context further down

Ooh my first mention!

I'm not familiar with Brazil's housing situation specifically but building more affordable homes and increasing social housing stock would increase the supply and reduce prices.

Definitely feel you on the lack of jobs locally. Its going to take provincial or national planning and investment to fix.

Sounds like a major enough city, I think most major European cities with subways usually have multiple crossing lines and a decent bus network to fill the gaps. Interestingly I don't even think that's the weirdest metro layout, personally I have to give it to Glasgow. They have a single subway loop that runs 2 directions and its the 3rd oldest underground rail transit system but it hasn't had the route changed or expanded in 125 years. They do have an advantage of having a decent bus system though.

My point is not that we should all go back to using old hardware right now with current the current way we use our tech because that is impossible.

My point is that the way we look at technology is wrong and the way we upgrade without real reason. The average person does not need a 4k camera, it does not make them a better photographer. I've used digital cameras with < 15 M sensors, the photos generally sufficed for family/holiday snaps and professional photography. Yet there will be people who have thrown out phones because they unnecessarily want the latest camera tech. Wait till people want 8k recording.

That perfectly working phone that was thrown out is an example of the e-waste I was talking about. Producing computers is not with out societal and environmental cost, and to throw perfectly serviceable machines is morally reprehensible. Current culture would agree with me that its not sustainable, but most people aren't ready to have to keep their device for 5+ years.
