There was a guy who was in tech support who talked to a customer about who was hot or not in the company. It was actually the customer who started the conversation, but the rep ran with it and used all kinds of unprofessional and disparaging language when describing his female co-workers.

That call happened to have a supervisor listening in, so he was fired immediately after he got off the call. The thing is found out who called in, and the women on the team had to assist him when he called for support.

I'm shocked he doesn't have an IRA (unless that doesn't count). Given his previous jobs, it passes the smell test that he doesn't have a 401k.

I'm sure his pensions are invested in a wide range of stocks and bonds, but he doesn't directly hold them.

he planned to carry out a mass shooting — a random attack common in the U.S. these days

Well they're not wrong, but it's kind of surreal to see it plainly said like that.

Running an absolutely ancient kernel.

The thing about Seinfeld and other comedians who aren't as popular anymore is that they blame the audience for not liking their material. Tastes change over time. The comedian either needs to change their act or live with the consequences that people aren't going to like their material as much.

Rodney Dangerfield was a great comic for his time. If someone tried to tell the same jokes today, I don't think he'd get very far. That's not the fault of the audience. It's the fault of the comedian. No one owes you a laugh.

"Free speech absolutist" these days means "you should be required to hear what I say" not "you should be able to say anything you want without government interference."

I felt this way at one time when I was younger. Now I don't give a shit what people want to do with their own bodies.

The code has always been the easy part. The hard part is getting requirements that make sense. It will continue to be the case with bots doing the coding.

The old joke is that "Ubuntu" is a Bantu word meaning "can't install Debian."

Yeah I think Arch is fine, but I'd never recommend it to a new Linux user.
