I'm not even sure that we'll ever get to that point. Plus, it's not compatible with most hardware yet.

Ray Tracing is useless (unless it's for animated movies or movies that use CGI), regular lighting is a lot better for performance, and it's 80% as good as Ray Tracing, in comparison. I use a really bad laptop, yet it is possible to get 30 to 60 FPS, on decently optimized games.

Yeah, sorry. Haven't learned to navigate around Lemmy, yet

[-] thatonecoder@lemmy.ca 4 points 4 days ago

Then, isn't it best to say what you used the AI on, so that consumers can make even better choices?

The problem is that it's being used to not optimize, when it should be to prolong the lifespan of computers, mostly older gaming rigs. If developers focused on optimizing and not on rushing things, a GTX 1080 Ti could probably handle AAA games at 1440p, high settings, at least at 60 FPS, and 140+ FPS with DLSS at quality. Keep in mind that I don't blame most developers, but rather big corps, that do have partnerships with companies like Nvidia, that obviously want people constantly buying their GPUs.

As a Portuguese natural born citizen, I support this! Although some regulations would have to be changed, in order to have parity with the rest of the EU.

It is a good place, but it does not necessarily have a lot of good people. We also have quite some ignorants, similar to the 'Murican ones. Another thing is that Portuguese is not very easy to learn or pronounce, especially the more neutral accent (the pseudo-Lisbon one). My suggestion is to pick a place you'd like to visit, and specialize your information, for that area. Anyway, good luck!

My country (Portugal) is a quite good place, but please don't buy or rent any overpriced house, because that makes it too expensive for the poorest citizens (minimum salary is less than 900 euros per month).

A fine point, but Lemmy.ca is geared towards Canadians, not exclusive to them.

[-] thatonecoder@lemmy.ca 6 points 4 days ago

Fair enough, but I am from Portugal, so I do feel the issue.

Same situation, here in Europe - the most beneficial situation would be to have a bigger partnership between the EU and Canada! Only then, we could face Trump, Putin, and other dictators.

Yay! But also consider coming to the EU; we are also in need of good doctors!
