I used to be in love with Awesome but I think it's been more than 10 years since I used it last. I remember the software being wonderful and the people in the people in the community being stereotypical, smug, "rtfm" types.. That was more frustrating than anything else about Awesome.

I remember reading about COBOL devs being able to earn pretty solid incomes. I thought, "Let's check this out." I found a site that did common things in different languages and compared them. Reverse string in ruby. 1 line. Reverse string in COBOL. 40-50 lines. "Ehh.. Maybe I don't want to learn this after all."

I'd argue it would help a lot if there was a similar apology for the 1953 Iranian coup. Good luck getting that through congress though.. If the vote failed it would probably do more harm than good.

I remember going to a tea shop years ago. The person working there asked if I wanted one of the samples they had. The conversation went like this:

"It's good for heart health, your liver, and getting rid of toxins."

"Does it taste good too?"

"Oh yeah. Of course."

"Ok. Let's start there."

Tea can do many things but it's not medicine. That's stupid.

Been 20ish years since I've talked to my dad. So long ago that I don't really have emotions about it anymore.. It just is what it is.

I don't ever remember being like angry or vindictive or whatever when I ended it.. It was more recognizing that this person is a train wreck and the relationship with them does more harm than good. It's not worth the effort. It has always been about protecting my mental health more than it has been punishing his shitty behavior.

Every two weeks. I've been following from the beginning.. It's the best show on the tubes.
