Certs are a waste of time tbh. If you have 8 years of experience, you should have more than enough to fill out a resume already.

An AWS cert is almost certainly even more useless for you specifically unless you wanted to get into devops/sre and do systems design. I have been in sre for a very long time and have never even heard of anyone writing tooling in Java. That section of the industry is entirely dominated by go, python, and (more often than anything else) bash for really quick automation.

Trains when possible.

I've been riding motorcycles on and off for years. For the last 8ish months I've been riding one of those like city share electric moped/scooter things. It's a cheap Chinese NIU brand. For the size and state of infrastructure in my current city (Tbilisi) it's honestly the best way to get around.

I lived in Tokyo for years though. I would take a train network like that any day of the week.

It really is. The beat, the hook.. All great. It's a legit fantastic song if it wasn't for the absolute dog shit content of the lyrics.

Not scrolling through all the comments to see if someone mentioned this yet or not but every December I check what is on the best albums of the year lists.. Generally I check per-genre that I'm into. Like best black metal of 2023, best jazz of 2023, etc etc..

Other than that, bandcamp and YouTube are the biggest. I honestly buy more on bandcamp these days than I torrent though. It's such a great site.

Legit had my latest covid shot yesterday at Wallgreens. I was waiting for half an hour and, while waiting, I heard someone talking to a different customer on a phone call. They said they had a backlog of ~600 prescriptions and that they shouldn't rush to come pick up theirs.

When I finally got into get my shot, they legit had to move garbage bins out of the way.. Like literal garbage next to an injection site.

These workers deserve everything they ask for.

I still don't really see the argument. OpenTofu exists because of internal drama about licensing on a tool that you don't use..

Someone building a different banana picker that looks just like another banana picker doesn't need to explain their reasoning in terms a coal miner would understand..

Also, literally just clicking the intro doc linked from the main page tells you everything you need to know..

Is there anything he can't do? What an inspiration!

Certbot in cron if you're still managing servers.

I'm using cert-manager in kube.

I haven't manually managed a certificate in years.. Would never want to do it again either.

Check the neighborhood maps on nomadlist. Check out where there are supposed to be cool stuff/people. Usually I just search Google maps for things/streets in those neighborhoods for things that might be interesting.. Cafés, restaurants, bars, shops, etc..

You MUST get used to meeting locals when you're traveling a lot. Meetup.com, couchsurfing, internations, dating apps, or even the hostel where you are staying.

For context, I traveled full time, nonstop for 4ish years before covid. This is how I did the majority of my travel. Things like attractions or museums or historical places get really old really fast. If I never set foot in an art museum for the rest of my life, I will not be upset in the slightest. People, food, shopping, culture.. This is the only thing I feel is worth seeing anymore.

I think the typical approach is in the opposite direction.. Write a comment about what the code should do then have the AI write the code, adjusting for any mistakes it makes.
