In Piedmontese (northern Italian dialect):

"To be mounted over squared ball bearing" = to be really strange, not as other people

"Horse brand" = a product of an unknown low quality brand

"To beat the goat" = throw a tantrum

Hello! In my Cordova android app I'd like to get the info (title, author, duration etc) of the currently playing song (in another application, like spotify or any mp3 player).
I didn't find any cordova plugin to do this directly, and on the web I only found android-only ways, but sadly I have 0 experience with java/kotlin. How can I do this in cordova?

thanks in advance!

Hello! EOS user here. I upgrade my system with topgrade, and sometimes it tells me about some pacnew files, asking if merging, replacing or removing the original ones. I snapshotted my system and tried replacing my original files (an eos-something file, where the new file changed a bunch of mirrors, and /etc/shells, where it replaced sh and bash with git-shell and zsh. After the reboot, I was unable to boot into my user account ("wrong password" but it was the correct password). I had to boot as root and restore the snapshot. I then removed that evil pacnew file.

Now my question is, how should I deal with these pacnew files? should I always remove them, always replace them, always read them and decide? I'd rather not read these things everyday, it's a bit boring, so I hope there's a better solution. How do you deal with these?

Hello! I'm looking for a calendar app for my android device to display the current week of the calendar, with all events and tasks at the right hour. I'd use it for my university schedule. I found on F-droid some apps like this and this, but none of them provided a homescreen widget. Any suggestion is greatly appreciated! thanks in advance!

Hello! I have a bunch of photos all mixed together, and I'd like to sort them out in order to better find the ones I'm searching for without loosing half an hour. I was thinking of adding custom tags to each image (manually), like "my dog", "trip to Paris", "my friend X" etc. I'd like this tag system to be portable, filesystem-indipendent. What are my best bet?

On dolphin if I click on a file I can add a custom tag. Where is the tag stored? in the file or in some plasma configuration file, so that moving the file on my phone would loose the tags?

I searched the web but probably I don't really know how to call this, because all I found was a bunch of 11 years old threads or video tag editor (I need to do this with images)

thanks in advance!

EDIT: I have a HUGE amount of pictures to sort manually, so I'd need a GUI designed to be really quick. It probably does not exist, or if it does it won't satisfy me, so I'd probably write my own simple frontend for it, so the ideal would be a CLI tool or something QT-compatible

Hello there! I wrote today this tiny js script to export my watchlater playlist to a json file in order to import it into piped, as Youtube does not want you to do this for mysterious reasons. Sharing if anybody is in need!

https://codeberg.org/tubbadu/youtube-watchlater-playlist-to-piped-exporter

DisclaimerThe procedure includes pasting js code into the browser's console. This is usually NOT recommended, as it may expose security vulnerabilities and do really bad things. Use this tool at your own risk. I pinky promise it is not malicious ;)

I can use KDE connect it to send mouse click event, but the stylus and the touchscreen doesn't seem to be supported. Am I missing something?

Hello! I have a 2in1 reversible tablet with touchscreen and stylus, running fedora. My laptop runs EndeavourOS. both with wayland session.
I'd like to use my tablet as input method, in order to use the stylus on my laptop. I tried Weylus, and it is great for screen mirroring and casual clicks, but using the stylus (perhaps it's my wifi's fault) was way too laggy, almost unusable. Are there other tools, similar to this, that perhaps work with a usb cable or something like this? in order to speed things up. My tablet is very potato-ish, very slow at running apps and so, but once the apps are loaded they works fluently. both the laptop and the tablet runs KDE.

thanks in advance!

Hello fellow lemmings! I'm designing a customized deck of cards as a present for a friend of mine. When finished, I'd like to print it by myself, because online print services would cost way too much for a single deck of cards. I'd like the cards to be robust and durable, and to be easy to shuffle. Is there a particular type of paper that you recommend? Or something to apply afterward? I'm thinking of plasticizing the cards after the print process, but I don't know how well it would come out. Any idea is welcome!

Hello! I was looking on https://plexus.techlore.tech for my most used apps to understand what I'd miss if I degoogled my smartphone, and surprising Satispay seems to be completely unusable without play services or microG. It is very counter intuitive for me, as it has nothing to do with google. Any idea?

Foss OSM-based navigator (lemmy.kde.social)

Hello! I'm looking for a foss navigator app for my android device, but all navigator apps I've tried (OSMand, organic map) are missing a feature: when I calculate the route from point A to point B, on Google Maps a few possible routes are displayed, and then I chose the one I prefer; on other apps only one possible route is displayed, and if for any motivation I don't want to pass from a certain street or something like this, I have no other options. Is there an app (or a way on these apps) to make it calculate a few possible routes instead of just one?

thanks in advance!

Hello! I'm trying to make google maps go work on my android smartphone. Google maps go is basically a wrapper of the website, that should provide navigation feature with another app called "navigator for Google maps". I have both installed, but when I click on "navigate in app", the link "maps.app.goo.gl/somethingverylong" is redirected to the play store website instead of being opened with the navigator app. Both apps have all permissions granted. What am I doing wrong?

Bonus question: do I really need the google maps go app or is it also possible to redirect to the navigator app from the browser?
Bonus question #2: would the navigator app work without google play services, on a degoogled rom?

Thanks in advance!
