Nor should you. Everything shitty in politics is not due to Trump, but he sure normalized a lot of bad things that weren't a thing before him. If conservatists from 80s had been dropped into a Trump rally in 2020, they would have been extremely confused.

Jiu Jitsu, a rather traditional method. I've practiced lots of things over the last 3 decades, and have now landed on this because there's a lot of good people practicing it.

What I like:

• it has a bit of everything
• judo throws are fun

What I don't like:

• wrestling / grappling, never liked or been good at that
• kicks are pretty practical, no fancy acrobatic stuff
• no traditional weapon (staff, sword, nunchaku, etc) techniques

I suck at martial arts, but I've done it for so long that I'm sometimes able to fool people into thinking I'm not bad.

I'm an oldish dude with fairly conservative liberal views and I think it's absolutely essential that our children get taught this. The risk that this is Orwell's 1984ish is minimal and the benefits far outweigh it.

It's true: literally everything has been better every year since 2004.

It sorta worked for Finland. But we did a huge amount of asskissing between 1945-2022.

Perhaps the point is that those principles predate Communism by quite some time, and Communism added a lot of its own baggage on them.
