Nope, but they look fine to me. Can you share an example
Oh we had censored some words like removed and removed since we got ad posts in the beginning of instance, it seems that had some negative effects. we'll remove those filters now, thanks for catching that error.
Saw my message just says removed lol, pretty good example of unintended consequences.
I don't see them blocking any instance.
To be sure I subscibed to a community from there and it's federating fine https://lemmy.fmhy.ml/c/boardgames@feddit.de
Password managers are as important as adblockers in this day and age imo
Hey the image uploading at the backend of lemmy is a bit borked right now, restarting the server fixes it for a while so we restart our instance 5 times a day but it can still cause error sometimes, only thing right now you can do is try after a while, or use an image hosting site and post through there (for posts)
We are trying to find a permanent solution to this, sorry for the inconvenience.
Sounds straight from a black mirror episode.
Oops my bad, I'll update the post
I think it's different with Lemmy since people make posts in communities and it's in the community moderator's power to remove problematic comments.
If an entire instance supports or encourages such behaviour though, then you're right and such instances should be defederated.
The version from 17.3 to 17.4 is mostly db optimization, and the devs said they'll be releasing v18 with major reworks any day now, so we decided to skip v17.4 and will jump to v18 the moment it's released.
That would be a good PSA for sure. As the platform grows, each instance will develop it's own theme and culture (some of which is already noticeable).
Each user will then need to decide what instance seems to be the closest to what they want Lemmy to be like, and then join that. I only hope it doesn't boil down to echo chambers who refuse to federate with each other due to petty reasons.
UPDATE: the fault was on our end, one of the admins added an instance in the allowed instances which meant we were only federating with that instance for a few hours.
Sorry for our mistake, and thanks for pointing it out quickly. It has been reversed and things should be back to normal now.
Ahh yes this is one of my favorite quotes and one I think about a lot.
