It's freeing in a way, I don't have to do any extra processing in my head, and I can just see the posts and comments for what they are. You should try it too!

For me, driving. Its not that driving is difficult or i'm just not able to drive. Its that there are just too many awful drivers and pedestrians you have to care about on the road.

While my son played one season of T-ball five years ago, I still consider this his first season playing baseball. In fact, a lot of the players on his team have never played before.

They did manage to make it into the second round (out of three) of the end of season tournament. This is where my son made his first big play. He was playing short stop, and the kid at bat hit a pop fly that my son managed to catch.

He was so thrilled, and shocked, by the catch that he proudly stood there with both hands in the air. Unfortunately there were people on base, and he forgot to throw the ball back infield, but all of the parents agree that it was okay given how awesome the catch was.

I jumped up so fast, and was screaming/cheering so hard, that I literally fainted (i.e. got dizzy and lost the ability to stand). I couldn’t be more proud of him.

This may sound like an "and then everybody clapped" thing but consider that ultimately if I was to lie I'd come up with something more dramatic 😄

So I was walking through the park and came by a bench with the words "Kein Platz für Gewalt an Frauen" (= No room for violence against women) written on it. I sat down next to the writing and started reading a book when this girl, maybe 9 or 10, came by and gave the bench a long, focused stare before gleefully letting her mother and grandmother know about the writing. You could tell it genuinely had an impact on her, like she felt seen. And her family looked happy for her too and affirmed that, yes, this is a great message.

Especially in a place like a public park where women often feel particularly unsafe it was nice to see that a little act of vandalism managed to remind a young girl that this is hers to enjoy too, and without fear.

I’ll start. Booked a hotel next weekend via a big blue hotel booing site. Get a phone call today from the accomodation provider asking for payment. Told them to take it via the booking site. They say no, and I will lose my reservation. Booking site says pay the accomodation direct. Go on the accomodation site and I can’t book for the days I wanted. WTF arrrrrgh.

Storytime (lemmy.world)

So back when I was in middle school, I used to always wear this hoodie. One time I was sitting down, and this guy behind me started toying with the hood of my hoodie. Pulling on it and stuff. Now I didn't really mind so I just let it happen.

Then suddenly I felt really sleepy and leaned my head back. I don't remember what happened next. I just woke up with a tingly sensation all over my body. Pins and needles everywhere. They told me I was shaking but I don't remember shaking. And they said my eyes were red.

I assume the guy pulling on the hood had something to do with it. I mean it wasn't tooo tight around my neck that I was choking or anything but it was definitely tensed for a while.

I still don't really know what exactly happened. It was a nice nap though ngl. I felt really sleepy and just leaned my head back and everything went away 😌

Edit: Thank you all for your condolences and the beautiful snippets from your own furry friends. It is so special to be loved by an animal and love them back.

After nineteen years together, we had many beautiful memories and adventures together, but one of my favorite was when we visited the beach. She absolutely loved it and would run up and down chasing seagulls and barking at coming waves as happy as can be.

I will miss you forever, Tandi♥️

So, as a child, specifically pre puberty or during puberty I was basically in total self isolation and not interested for anything, and I even neglected my hygiene and showered once a week. Well today I'm trying my best to do at least bare minimum and shower every day, or maybe sometimes skip a day. But I still sometimes feel like I am dirty and like I stink no matter how much I clean myself and how much deodorant and parfume I apply. Idk what to do.

Hiya Lemmy, I'm stuck on a dilemma.

I have a nice PC but I don't like being stuck at a desk all day and would like to game from my couch without having to lug the tower back and forth. It's a whole thing and that bitch is heavy.

So I have some options.

A) getting a looong HDMI cable to somehow run from my PC to the TV.

  • this is the cheapest option, for sure. But my controller doesn't pair well with my PC for whatever reason, so that doesn't really help a whole lot. I do have a looong usbC cable, but it's not my favorite option. Especially with cats.

B) build or buy a micro ATX. Something with tiny(relatively) form factor that doesn't need to be anywhere near top of the line to play what I usually play. So I could probably build something decent for 1200 USD? Maybe 1500. Or buy a pre built and save some heartache.

  • it's the most expensive option, but it will last me forever and it'll be a portable PC basically. Just not as portable as a steam deck.

C) buy a steam deck. I don't need the OLED or anything. I don't usually travel with gaming things, so I'm not worried about all that.

  • middle price option. While portability isn't a huge concern, it could really come in handy. I really liked steam OS and the ability to just boot as a PC. I could see myself using an emulator to play some older games. But my biggest concern with the steam deck is that the other one I borrowed from a friend couldn't really play rocket league. It just didn't have the juice to run the game? And I'm pretty sure I turned down all the graphics and everything.

Anyhow. This is a long post of thoughts. Anyone been in this situation? What did you choose? How are you feeling about your choice?
