Born in South Africa to a mother who was born in Canada. If Wikipedia is to be believed, he holds citizenship for South Africa, Canada, and USA.
how does he have triple citizenship!? everyone else they make you renounce some of that once your 18, but this asshole is so rich he gets to just be part of a special class of one? i hate this guy
In Westernized nations no one is forced to give up their citizenship in one nation to vote in another.
Dual citizenship guarantees one with all the benefits of both nations.
The USA doesn't recognize dual cotizenship with all nations for example you can have Mexican citizenship or US citizenship you cannot have both but you can be a dual US/UK citizen. This is because America is still quite racist.
Duel citizenships guarantee the right to satisfaction in the ring of honour.
If you become a naturalized citizen they make you renounce other citizenships.
You have to have parents from 2 countries who have 2 separate citizenships to be a dual.
The USA.gov website implies you are wrong, else why would they say this?
https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/legal/travel-legal-considerations/Relinquishing-US-Nationality/Dual-Nationality.html
okay. just going off the united states. where he naturalized. where you have to renounce your prior nation of citizenship, and where people don't get to have more that two citizenships past 18. guess we're not westernized. and also the rules still don't apply to the world's richest dickhead
Except he wouldn't have been able to keep 2 of them if he became american.
You can have Canadaian andUS citizenship.
Yes, I didn't say you couldn't.
I said if you apply for a US citizenship, they make you renounce your other citizenships.
In Muskrats case that would be SA and Canada.
Except they don’t do this?
“US. law does not require a U.S. citizen to choose between U.S. citizenship and another (foreign) nationality (or nationalities). A U.S. citizen may naturalize in a foreign state without any risk to their U.S. citizenship”
https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/legal/travel-legal-considerations/Relinquishing-US-Nationality/Dual-Nationality.html
The US might not require that. The country you are joining might not have the same rules.
Edit: Also that is for becoming a citizen of a different country than the US. Which really doesn't contradict my statement.
You claimed the USA requires people to gove up their citizenship and they do not.
Edit: how does your comment and link back your statement when it's about Americans becoming a citizen of a different country?
“I said if you apply for a US citizenship, they make you renounce your other citizenships.“
That’s what Im replying to. This claim you made is without question incorrect.
You are trying very hard to cling to an incorrect notion.
And your link doesn't support your statement.
Yes, it does. You don’t lose other citizenships when you gain US citizenship.
You keep asserting otherwise, how about you back that claim up with proof?
Ted Cruz had dual citizenship and held office, so I'm unsure how you think it can't be done.
Where did I say he couldn't hold office?
Edit:Ted cruz also has a canadian and american parent.
In order to hold office you have to have citizenship. Cruz held office while (unknowingly) having dual citizenship ... until he found out and renounced his Canadian citizenship.
So you are demonstrably incorrect.
You seem to be making up things that I have said.
Please quote me.
As many of us have said this is demonstrably incorrect. America does NOT force anyone to give up a foreign citizenship to gain US citizenship.
He is a billionaire. He is a nation unto himself. What it says on his passport, at this point, is irrelevant.
Except he doesn't have an American citizenship, as he would have had to renounce the other 2.
America recognizes dual citizenship with many nations just not Mexico which totally has nothing to do with racism /s
