TikTok has literally nothing to do with informing tho... it's literally the opposite.
Then you haven’t used it. The Reddit stream of 100% hate towards TikTok without understanding it is a very bad take. It provided a ton of momentum in recent US social movements.
Ya it's literally the easiest way to get a quick video on something you wanna learn. Not to mention (unlike other platforms) you get a friendly face that teaches it to you

i wanted to learn how to do a certain knot once, and tiktok has short to-the-point videos, while youtube was filled with 10+minutes videos with long introductions, sponsors, long speeches on why you might want to know that knot,...

Because there's no critical thought about who is delivering that information to you, where they got it from, what biases and/or agendas they may or may not have, etc...
If you are learning about the world through 15 second videos of a random internet stranger talking about a subject, then you are going to end up with a fucked up (and just objectively incorrect) worldview. But I guess it's OK because they have a friendly face.

they can but usually don't, when tiktok was pretty new I became a nazi because of it and I stayed that until I saw how the government (any and every government) is a corrupt force that lies to you amd hurts you in other ways

Not really. There are plenty of social media apps and services that aren't toeing the line. TikTok is being targeted because of their relatioship with China.

I had 4 posts taken down on FB for "Anti-semitism" because I was sharing a video covering the genocide...
I could be wrong, but I believe they TikTok ban stuff was in motion before Oct. 7 (assuming that's what you're referring to). Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

What number of people found out about it from tv and what number found out on tiktok? I wouldn't be surprised if the tiktok number was higher. I don't know why you're so sure it isn't
All news agencies in my country have a tik tok account and regularly use it to publish exactly the same news as they do on their newspapers or on TV. I don't see how watching that news on tik tok is any different that turning on the TV and watching it there.
You just need to train your algorithm, my tik tok always show a lot of interesting educational stuff. I can't remember the last time I saw any kind of soft porn there, my Instagram on the other hand is always shoving big and hard gym booties on my face.
I dunno... I was informed a lot on TikTok. Like, 2020-2022 I had a whole lot of "I was X years old when I learned this..." thanks to Black and Brown creators who got a voice on TikTok that was lacking anywhere else.
