you can't get out of it this time. he won the popular vote. not voting is voting.
He didn't win, vote-suppression won.
Besides you could argue the non-vote were the more popular choice because people are fed up with FPTP-voting.
that's not an unknown. vote suppression has always been a thing. especially dem voters know this. I'm not talking about the voters; I'm talking about non voters. you don't show up, you vote for whoever comes up. vote suppression did not suppress 86 million votes.
I didn't claim it did, people can protest vote however they wish.
and accept the consequences. this is the result of their protest votes. enjoy.
We still own this as a country. Any other attitude risks not making the necessary changes to prevent this in the future.

First time, maybe people weren't paying attention, maybe they wanted to give him the benefit of the doubt, maybe they really hated the Clinton dynasty, and to be fair he lost the popular vote by millions. Ok, you guys got screwed, learn the lesson and move on.
Second time, there was all the precedent: disastrous covid handling (hundreds of thousands of excess deaths), ruined economy, absolute international clown show, hiring his family, all the golf (at his properties), racism, sharpies, crowd sizes, all the testimonials of his incompetence from anyone working with him, his own VP not endorsing him... And the crimes. And the treason. And the porn star. And Project 2025. And not only he won again, but this time he got the popular vote. The American people made their bed, and instead of pillows they used a face eating leopard.
Winning the popular vote doesn't mean everyone voted for him. Besides, realistically he didn't even do that.

In the 2020 election, 81,283,501 people voted for Biden while 74,223,975 voted for Trump.
In the 2024 election, 75,017,613 voted for Harris, while 77,302,580 voted for Trump.
Thata 155,507,476 - 152,230,193 = 3,187,283 fewer people voting.
Biden got 81.2m votes vs Harris getting 75m votes... in other words, people who showed up to vote for Biden in 2020 sat out and didn't vote in 2024, which directly resulted in Trump winning.
Not voting is voting, get it now?
I commented saying that I don't think Trump got 77,302,580 votes. Get it now? Bringing up Bidens and Harris's vote count is irrelevant.

not voting isn't a way to say "I don't like either one", it says "I'm on board with whoever wins by people who actually show up". so that's a vote for mango mussolini. would've been for Harris if that 1.6% margin swung the other way, but it didn't.

Kinda, yeah. The conversation was that we don't get to complain because "everyone" voted for Trump. Basically implying that all of America wanted this. I just expressed my doubt that the candidate with a history of election fraud got the numbers that are claimed. More importantly though, there were still plenty of people who did not vote for Trump and are upset about current events.
Did lots of people sit out the election in protest, yes. Did lots of people move changing the demographics of certain areas over the past few years, yes. Nothing changes the fact that he has more followers in high places than he did during his 1st term. I remember Trump wanting to find 11,000 votes last election. How many did he find this time with more support?
I'm getting downvoted for essentially saying "I didn't vote for any of this and Trump probably cheated anyways since he has a history of it now" in response to you saying that there is no difference between the will of ALL of the American people and the Commander in Cheese and I think that's hilarious. Apparently being American means being pro Trump now, no matter what. Trump didn't need evidence or facts when he claimed election fraud back in May 2020 months before the election even started. So why are you asking me for receipts, this is a vibes based reality we live in now. Trump saved California from the fire but all the big cities are still being burned by criminals and immigrants right. At least that's what the news and Trump are reporting.
no one said all, or everyone. some people claim the American people didn't want this. in a democracy the will of the people is determined by the majority of the voting-eligible population. around 160 million people wanted this. that's a very solid representative bunch.
even if they did election fraud, which is completely speculative copium with no evidence whatsoever, but even if he did, he sure as fuck couldn't fake 80-90 million votes. you want to prevent someone winning by fudging a couple thousand votes here and there, you show up.
the fact remains: 70+ million people voted for him, and 80+ million more were fine with him. that's a huge majority that can't be explained away with fraud.

That was the whole point of your first reply in this thread. Top comment is literally a comment saying this is the will of the president and not the people. You responded with "that's wrong, they're the same thing" like they are magically the same just because he won. Basically saying that regardless of who they voted for, this is what they voted for. Because that's how democracy works right. You are the one saying that our votes/voices don't matter just because Trump won. Rebuplicans famously disagree with any democratic president and their policies so I don't understand why I have to agree with a republican one. Someone else then came in and started spitting out numbers like that was the conversation. It wasn't.
Trump and his cronies lost everytime they ran on a Project 2025 platform, so much so that Trump even distanced himself. When that didn't work he went to the classics, his greatest hits. And now that he's in the White House we have slowly watched him back track on some of his promises. Angering/disappointing some of his base in the process.
But getting back on track,

the original comment said that this was not the will of the people and I said yes it is. this was a laid out plan, and even if he distanced himself (as if anyone would believe him) his own promises weren't different at all. he literally said he wanted to be a dictator day one. deport 20 million. end diversity. and the majority of the people voted for him. 160 million stamps of approval. that's the will of the American people by a significant margin. that's how it's determined. it doesn't mean every single person.

Your argument is that "the people", ie everyone, blindly accepted and approved of whatever idiotic policy simply because Trump won the popular vote. I don't accept that.
I'm sorry but that's just not how democracy works. Remember let's go Brandon, remember #notmypresident, remember those "I did that" stickers, clearly this goes both ways. Being a democracy means that there is supposed to be some middle ground, some compromise, as well as room for dissent. Trump doesn't do that, we are watching democracy die in real time and you think that this is what the American people want. Some, sure. But not all. I thought the dictator was supposed to be the guy in the White House, not some random little bitch in the comments section of one of the smallest social media platforms on earth crying that the the popular vote doesn't allow for anyone to disagree with the president.
I'm the one agreeing with the guy that said these tariffs are solely the presidents fault and idea. You are the one saying they are the American peoples fault and idea because Trump won the popular vote. Am I missing something here?

yes it's exactly how democracy works. whoever gets the most votes gets to represent the people's will. if he had lied about it during the campaign like he lies about pretty much everything I would've said yeah this isn't what the people wanted, he did a bait and switch. but he didn't. he said he's gonna do tariffs and be a dictator on day 1, and 160 million people said ok be our lord king please.
not all, again literally no one said that, but certainly not "some". 160 million of the eligible voters. that's 68%. it's a landslide.
I see where the confusion is. It's 2 things:
Tariffs were originally sold as being for China and any company that threatened to take production outside our borders in order to stimulate the US economy while not harming the average American......wild applause. But also lies. He is now adding tariffs to anyone(countries) that annoys him. He altered the deal, let us pray he doesn't alter it further. Spoiler, he will. Nobody wanted this. Canada tariffs aren't a thing before last week, AFTER he was elected. Didn't really uphold the campaign promise if he never made it. At least we agree that he isn't the type of person to keep a promise anyway. That's why there is an article on the community for THEONION.....
The only reason I jumped in this thread was because you "attacked" someone for saying that the American citizens didn't want or vote for any of this, or is that my fever dream again. So by your logic EVERYONE has to agree with Trumps decision because YOU don't allow for anyone to disagree with Trump and calling that democracy. Why, because he won the popular vote? Again, you "attack" those that disagree with your POV. You are right, you didn't say everyone voted for Trump but you also don't think it matters that people have disagreements with his actions/policies/rhetoric/ramblings(because at this point they are the same thing) because like you said "you can't get out of it this time" as if we, the people that DIDN'T vote for him, are responsible.
A big factor that lead to Trump winning was because of all of the minority support, not just the protest non-votes. Don't forget the voter suppression, or my personal favorite election fraud. Minorities, specifically Latinos, are already the first to protest on any significant scale, not that it matters. LGBTQ is probably next in size. As more time passes and he continues to fuck over the American people, and ultimately the world, I see that popularity starting to wane. Especially after he starts firing more people and runs out of people to blame for everything hitting the fan. Buyers remorse is real. Not that it matters with all of the talk about having voting fixed so good for the next election. We couldn't stop him as an ordinary citizen, what the fuck makes you think we can stop him as "lord king" even with your precious popular vote.
